Hope Scholarship/Hope Grant

HOPE ScholarshipStudents must have a 3.0 average in all

academic courses Language Arts Math Social Studies Science Modern/Classical Language

HOPE Scholarship All English, math, science, social studies and

modern language coursework attempted in the student’s high school career (grades 9-12) will be counted toward the HOPE Scholarship cumulative GPA.

Unweighted numeric grades will be converted to the 4.0 scale.

Advanced Placement classes are weighted, meaning 10 points are added to the final grade. These points are subtracted, the grade is converted to the 4.0 scale and .5 is added to that class’ GPA up to a total of 4.0 per class grade.

HOPE ScholarshipExamples for figuring the Grade Point Average for

an Advanced Placement class

Final grade of 95 – 10 = 85 85 = 3.0 + .5 = 3.5

Final grade of 85 – 10 = 7575 = 2.0 + .5 = 2.5

Final grade of 75 – 10 = 6565 = 0.0 + .5 = .5

HOPE Scholarship Public Colleges in Georgia – pays tuition, approved fees, and

$150 per semester for books.

Technical Colleges in Georgia – pays tuition for certificate and diploma programs regardless of GPA through the HOPE Grant (see next slide); however, one must meet the GPA requirements for a degree program.

Private Colleges in Georgia – pays $3500 per year towards tuition.

HOPE Grant High school graduate in Georgia

No GPA required

Attend a public technical college

Pursue a certificate or diploma program

Pays tuition, approved fees and $100/per quarter or $150 per semester for books
