Update from sub-groups

North Partnership Board meeting:

Lynn said that the North meeting discussed what

residents wanted from a Partnership Board . They are

keen to have small sub-groups called Task and Finish

groups to operate dealing with a particular issue.

General discussion about the Boards:

It was felt that amalgamating the South and the North groups together

would not be a good idea as this may not be what residents want. What

might work in the North might not work in the South. Andy and Glyn felt

that two smaller meetings were better for the service users and then

one main Partnership Board as we have now.

The group would like to have a proper Glossary of terms so

that everyone understands the acronyms used.

There is a lack of understanding on the purpose of our meetings in the

present form. We need new Terms of Reference. Then we could have a

recruitment drive. We have already started to look at our membership

lists and will do some checking. We would like a representative from an

Advocacy Group and from Healthwatch and for the Directors of the

Council and the Clinical Commissioning Groups to attend regularly.

Some officers and the Co-chairs are planning to go to the

Partnership Board meeting run by Cheshire West to see

how they do this. We were due to go to this meeting in

October, but we are now invited to go in December (8th).

News and other things

Learning Disability Summit Lynn said that the Council wanted to organise an LD Summit. This would be for all adults with a learning disability who live in Cheshire East, their carers, their families, and all people who work with these residents. The organising of this event will start soon—with an event planned for early January. Staying Up Late: The Board members are passionate about the Staying Up Late campaign and would like to make sure that all adults with a learning disability can have the freedom to have a social life just like everybody else and stay out to go to all sorts of activities. The difficulties have been that their carers want to go back early because they have a work-shift that finishes.

A parent carer is concerned about the monitor-ing and checking the value of some packages and that the Council is getting good value for money.

The Board would like to discuss these points further.
