Classroom Procedures

As you enter the room look for any papers on the table next to the door. If there are any you need to grab them as you will need

them for class. Make sure to sharpen your pencil before class starts.

If a homework assignment is due make sure to hand it in before class starts. NOT after class. Homework is to be completed before

you enter the classroom.Once the bell rings you are to be in your seat and begin working

on the DIN. Do It Now. This will be your warm-up and will take place every class. This will be done independently and will not take

more than 5 minutes!!From the DIN we will begin the lesson for the day. This will include

direct and indirect instruction along with independent practice.Homework will be twice a week. An assignment will be given on

Monday and due that Wednesday. The second assignment will be given on Wednesday and due Friday.

Classroom Procedures Continued

To leave the classroom (to use the bathroom, get a drink, go to your locker) you need to have your passport you receive at the

beginning of each month. You only get a limited amount of passes so use them wisely! You need to fill out the passport with the

destination and time you are leaving the room. I will then sign it. Once you return you need to fill in the time you return. Then I will sign it again. Remember to ask permission first before you fill out

your passport incase I deny your request. To put it simply: no passport = you don't leave

Fire drillFor a fire drill you are to line up at the door silently. From there we

will enter the hall and go to the right. Once we go around the corner we go down the stairs on the left. At the bottom of the

stairs go out the doors to the right. From there we silently walk up the path until we reach the next class. We remain in the line

silently until the we are called back into the building.

Lock down drillA lock down drill is where the entire school is locked down and SILENT. As a class we will go and stand behind my desk in the

corner as close the wall as possible. You are going to be standing very close to each other. From there we all must be silent! We will

remain standing and silent until it is announced that the drill is over. Remaining silent and out of sight is the key to safety for a

lock down drill.

Tasty TreatsTickets will be given out various reasons. Ex: good behavior, being prepared

for class, positive attitude, ect. If you have enough tickets you can have a treat. However, you must ask and present the tickets before or after class. NOT

during. You will need to earn 5 tickets to receive a treat. Also, you must ask permission to eat the treat in class. All garbage must be thrown away. Nothing

on the floor.

Your turn!

Take the small index card and write your name on top.Under your name write two things that interest you. Ex: playing basketball, watching movies, running, ect. From there tell me what you want to be when you grow up? Ex: doctor, teacher :), lawyer, police officer, ect.Tell me how you learn math best. Do you like visuals with math? Listening to math? Reading about math?Lastly, tell me anything I need to know about you. Ex: Can't see from the back, colorblind, ect.

Game Time!

On a scrap piece of paper write down a four-digit number. Ex: 5432Write down that number reversed. Ex: 2345Subtract the smaller number from the larger number. Ex: 5432

- 2345 3087

Cross off one of the numbers of your answer EXCEPT for a zero! Ex: 3087Add up the remaining digits. Ex: 3 + 0 + 7 = 10When I call on you tell me the number you got after you added. Ex: 10I will magically tell you the number you crossed off!!

My Life in Numbers

Write your name in the middle of your poster in big lettersIn groups of 4 you will brainstorm the question, "How is math related to our daily lives?"

Now on your own write down some personal examples of how numbers are in your lifeEx: I have 2 sisters, 1 cat, and 11 fish
