Curriculum is sequenced and organized to ensure that ALL students are taught the essential content as outlined in the
Quality Core Curriculum (QCC), Georgia Performance Standards (GPS)
and Content Standards (PreK).
Knowledge of CURRICULUM
QCC / GPS
Quality Core Curriculum (QCC) has been or is currently being replaced by
Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) for K-12.
For frequently asked questions go to: www.georgiastandards.orgfaqs.aspx#qz
Content Standards (PreK)Georgia's Pre-K Content Standards provide a foundation for instruction in all Pre-K classrooms. They reflect current educational research and are aligned with Georgia's Performance Standards for grades K - 12.
Lesson PlansObjectives for your lessons should be based on QCC, GPS, or Content Standards. These standards should be used for planning instruction and assessing student’s work.
These standards can be found on one of the
following websites:

What is SST/504, IEP and EIP?How do they effect what and how we teach in
the classroom?• SST - Student Support Team is a process by which an
interdisciplinary team addresses learning and/or behavior problems of students. A standard form is used for addressing the instructional support needed for each student.
• Section 504 - This law refers to students who have physical or mental impairments that significantly affect major life activities and academic progress. Students who qualify for this service are provided legal modifications for the disability and don’t fit the criteria to qualify for special education services. This document is legally binding and teachers are required to monitor and provide appropriate services as listed.
• IEP - Individualized Education Plan is a written statement for a student with a disability that is developed, implemented, reviewed, and revised in accordance with Special Education rules and regulations. This document is legally binding and teachers are required to monitor and provide appropriate services as listed.
• EIP - Early Intervention Program is designed to serve students in grades kindergarten through grade five who are at risk of not reaching or maintaining academic grade level. This service is provided to students in order to obtain the necessary academic skills to reach grade-level performance in the shortest possible time.
Knowledge of CONTENT
Teachers should expect
high academic achievement for ALL students. Teachers should know their
content and be able to provide opportunities
for students to apply the content.
