O’ Breath of God
Come breathe within

Spirit of God we wait for You
Fill us anew we pray (2X)
Consuming fire fan into flame
A passion for Your Name
Spirit of God fall in this place
Lord have Your way
Lord, have Your way with us
Come like a rushing wind
Clothe us with Power from on high
Now set us the captives free
Leave us abandon to Your Praise
Lord, let Your glory fall (2X)
Stir it up our hearts, Lord (3X)
A passion for Your Name
“SHOUT TO THE LORD”
My Jesus, my Saviour
Lord there is none like you all of my days
I want to praise
the wonders of Your mighty love
My Comfort, my Shelter Tower of refuge and Strength let every breathe, all that I am
never cease to worship You
Shout to the Lord, all the earth
let us sing power and majesty,
praise to the King mountains bow down,
and the seas will roar at the sound of Your name

#20 SERMON NOTE 2013: The theme—‘THE PRIESTS’
“a Season of lethargy, apathy, & languor”
(1 Samuel 3:1-2) “The boy Samuel served the LORD under the direction of Eli. In those days the LORD didn’t give many messages to His people. He didn’t give them many visions. (NiRV) And at that time, when Eli was resting in his place, (now his eyes were becoming clouded so that he was not able to see,)” (BBE) 1. The word ‘lethargy’ means ‘state of being
drowsy and dull, listless [having no interest in anything], spiritless and unenergetic, or indifferent and lazy, sluggish inactivity’.
2. The word ‘apathy’ means ‘absence or suppression [stop] of passion, emotion, or excitement’.
3. The word ‘languor’ means ‘lack of energy or vitality; sluggishness, lack of spirit or interest’.
4. YES NO NOT SURE: Is your church has a season of lethargy, apathy, and languor?
5. Examine what causes this season of lethargy, apathy, and languor invaded our church today?
In those days, there was no king in Israel: every man did what was right in his own eyes. (Judges 21:25)
Now, Eli was very old and his weight was very heavy and he can’t see very well. (1 Samuel 2:22, 3:2, 4:18)
Now, the sons of Eli were sons of ‘Belial’ [means dishonest men, evil men, wicked men, worthless men, corrupted men—what is useless, of no fruit] and they not know the Lord.
o Both sons—Hophni [my fist] and Phinehas [a serpent’s mouth] not know the Lord. In other words:
both had no regard for the Lord both had no respect for the Lord both did not care about the Lord both paid no attention to the Lord both had no faith in the Lord both having no knowledge of the Lord both did not loved the Lord both refused to obey the Lord
o Remind us what 2 Peter 1:9 “But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar, and had forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.”
o What happened to both prophecies and visions? Why? (1 Samuel 3:1)
In those days the Lord kept His Word secret from men; there was no open vision. (BBE)
In those days, the Lord hardly ever spoke directly to people, and He did not appear to them in dreams very often. (CEV)
6. What is ‘REVIVAL’?
Revival means the _____________________ to life or the ____________________________ from death or apparent death.
Revival also means a return to ________________________ a season of lethargy, apathy, and languor. It is like a shock to the system.
Revival also applies to the recovery of a vital truth from ‘completely forgotten’, ‘neglect’, or ‘not clearly seen’, to the return to life of something that has been forgotten.
This is easy to see in spiritual terms, because in times of spiritual revival, long neglected truths are restored to life, and people rejoice to learn and obey them once again.
In a time of revival, people renew their _____________________ in spiritual concerns, their hearts and souls are restored with _____________________ life, and they are eager to engender [to develop] more life wherever they go.
Spiritual revival is so POWERFUL that society itself can be _______________________________.
7. Remember Hannah spoke out to Eli, “Don’t think of your servant as a worthless (Belial) woman; because I have been speaking from the depth of my distress and anger.” (1 Samuel 1:16 CJB)
8. The WATCHERS and the HANNAH COMPANY from the depth of their distresses and angers prayed with pain labor until Christ is developed in you.
Prayer is a key ingredient prior to revival, and prayer continues as a key ingredient for keeping up the results of revival. What are we looking for when we pray for revival?
an experiential _______________________________ of sin, which result in
a passionate _______________________________ of sin because of
a _____________________________ of God’s holiness,
a deep ______________________________ of God’s love and mercy, and
a sometimes ____________________________ heightened consciousness of eternity.
