Welcome to Edmund Rice College, Carrigaline
We hope this booklet will help answer some questions you might have about Edmund Rice
College, Carrigaline, before you join us.
Edmund Rice College, Carrigaline
Our school is called Edmund Rice College but we often call it E.R.C. for short!
E.R.C. is a school for both girls and boys. When you join us we will have approximately 250
students in our school, made up of first years, second years and third years.
Edmund Rice College is a new school which means at the moment we do not have any fourth
year, fifth year or sixth year students.
The Staff
We have approximately 30 teachers and Special Needs Assistants (SNAs) who help us in
school. You might meet a lot of them on the day of the entrance assessment but you will get
to know them very well when you begin school here after the Summer holidays.
This is our Principal, Ms Flynn This is our Deputy Principal, Mr Hyde
This is our SEN Co-ordinator, Ms Cronin,
who helps us in Learning Support classes.
In School

through our school gates
This photograph shows the outside
of the school building. We enter
the school through the main glass
door at the top of the steps.
When we enter the school through
the main door it leads into a big
open space which we call the
Atrium.
There is a stairs in the Atrium that leads to the top floor of the school. We always walk on the
left side of this stairway so that people can move easily up and down the stairs carefully.
This photograph shows the main staircase to the top floor
of the school.
Specialist Classrooms
We have lots of regular classrooms but we also have specialist classrooms in our school. This
is one of the differences between Primary School and Secondary School. We move to a
different classroom for each subject. The movement between each class helps us concentrate
more during the day.
