School Routines

Sport: Thursday

Students are required to come to school in their full school sports uniform. This includes white sports shoes and socks.

A doctor’s certificates must be brought in if your child cannot participate in sport activities.

Sport day may change throughout the year. You will be notified if it changes.

Library: Please ensure your child packs their library bag and borrowing card on this day.

Crunch ‘n’ SipPlease ensure your child has a piece of fruit/vegetable and water for their daily crunch ‘n’ sip.

• Birthday cakes and/or lollybags cannot be brought to school due to WHS.

• Students may be given awards and/or stickers on their birthday.

Grade 1 Information Information regarding Year 1 can be found on the school website and

SkoolBag app. Please download the app.

Please check these regularly for notices and filling out permission slips.

Learning Support Children are observed, referred and assessed by teachers

and learning support staff. Some students are placed on the Mini-lit program.

Class teacher will contact parents if a child needs to be referred to learning support.

Teacher aids have allocated sessions throughout each week to assist student learning.

Assessment

Students are assessed on a regular basis. They are graded using the criteria below – A to E scale. Their results are collected, recorded and tracked by the classroom teacher.

Homework Homework is given to students on Mondays and

collected on Fridays.

Please remind your child that they are responsible for their own homework.

Study ladder – your child will receive their own log in and password. Please ensure they complete the weekly set tasks.

Reading Fluency• Aims to improve students’ reading fluency and

accuracy.

• Task is completed at school and home.

• Students read for 1 minute and record the amount

of correct words/phrases. Please ensure your child

completes this task in their homework.

If your child’s book has not been contacted and returned to class, please ensure you do this ASAP.

Excursions

Excursions are planned according to topics covered in the curriculum.

Excursion notes will be uploaded to the website/Skool Bag.

Meetings with Teachers If you have concerns about your child’s learning, please contact the class

teacher to book in an appointment. Dismissal time (3:10-3:30) is not the

time for teachers to discuss your child’s progress.

If your child’s teacher has concerns about your child, you will be

contacted.

Parent-teacher meetings will be held at the end of Term 2.

Reports are issued through email in June and December.
