Getting Benefits

WHAT’S NEW?• The food packages for all members of your family will be combined.

For example, if two children in a family each receive 3 gallons of

milk, there will be 6 gallons of milk in the family account.

• WIC staff will print out a Benefits List showing the balance of

available foods in your family account.

HOW WILL I GET eWIC BENEFITS?Your benefits will be loaded into

your account at your WIC

appointments. You will visit WIC

every 1-3 months to receive

nutrition education and benefits.

REMEMBER to bring an ID, like

your drivers’ license or tribal ID,

to every visit.

WHAT IS A PIN? A PIN (Personal Identification Number)

is a 4 digit numeric code that you will

use to access your benefits, like with

a debit or EBT card. You will choose

your PIN at the WIC clinic when you

get your card.

• Be careful! Don’t write your PIN on

your card or choose a PIN that would

be easy for others to guess. Benefits

that are purchased without your consent

(stolen) cannot be replaced.

• Re-setting your PIN. If you forget

your PIN or just want to change it,

you can call the number on the

back of your card.

• You will enter your PIN each time you

use you eWIC card. You have 4 chances to enter your PIN correctly at the store. After 4 incorrect PIN tries, your

account will be locked. To unlock your

account, wait until midnight or call your

WIC clinic. You will then have 4 more

chances to correctly enter your PIN.

My Pin

IF YOU FORGET YOUR PIN OR JUST WANT TO CHANGE IT, YOU CAN CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD.

WHERE CAN I FIND MY eWIC BALANCE?Before going to the store, it’s a good idea to see what foods are in your account to purchase (your eWIC balance). To check you can:

• Look at your benefits list

• Review your last receipt

• Ask a cashier or customer service to print a balance receipt

• Go to the WIC client portal at www.itcaonline.com/eWIC

• Use the FREE WICShopper app on your smart phone

• Call the number on the back of your card.

Do I get a new eWIC card every month? No. You will use the same

card every month to purchase

your WIC foods. The PIN and

card stay the same, so be sure to

keep both safe.

What should I do if my card is lost or stolen?Call eWIC customer service to cancel your card immediately. You can

get a new card at your WIC clinic. Any valid unused benefits will be

available on your new card, but any items purchased (even if not by

you) cannot be replaced.

If I don’t use all my benefits, will they roll over to the next month? No, benefits are good for a one month period. The expiration

date is always listed with your eWIC balance.

What if I want someone else to shop for me? Anyone can shop for you if you give them

your card and PIN. Only share your

card and PIN with people you trust. You

are responsible for program abuse by

anyone who uses your card.

Can I use coupons or my loyalty card when using my eWIC card?Yes. You are encouraged to take advantage of

coupons and loyalty cards on WIC items.

Select your WIC approved items. Your benefits list or

balance, the food list, shelf

tags, and WIC shopper app

will help you choose the

right foods.

Separate your WIC items at the cash register…just in

case. Depending on the store,

they may or may not be able

to ring up your WIC and non-

WIC items together.

Notify cashier. Let the cashier

know you will be paying with

an eWIC card before they start

scanning your purchases.

Pay close attention! If an

item doesn’t ring up as a WIC

food, you can put it back or

purchase it with another

form of payment.

Got coupons? Give the cashier

your store loyalty card and any

coupons you may have.

Swipe your card. The cashier

will tell you when to swipe your

card and when to

enter your PIN.

Remember—

swipe your

eWIC card

before other

forms of

payment if WIC

and non-WIC items

are rung up together.

Get a receipt. The cashier will give

you a receipt. Be sure to keep it!

It lists your eWIC balance and

expiration date for benefits.
