Welcome!I’m absolutely delighted that you’ve chosen Lee Valley
Park Farms – a true working farm – for your school visit!
We have a hugely knowledgeable and friendly team of animal
experts here at the farm and we’ll do everything we can to ensure that
your time here is both fun and educational. We have all the traditional farm animals you’d
expect, as well as some more unusual ones, including meerkats, llamas and birds of prey.
Plus, you can visit our working dairy farm, see our cows being milked, and discover how our
fresh milk reaches your fridge.
Make sure you download our new Teacher’s Resource Packs and Activity Packs for
EYFS, KS1 and KS2 – they’re filled with ideas and classroom activities to help you get
the most from your visit.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Farm fact! We’re accredited members of two national organisations: farms for Schools and the National farm attractions network, because we’re passionate about bringing
learning to the farm!
Two great farms in one!Lee Valley Park Farms is made up of two farms – Hayes Hill Farm is our main visitor centre and is
where you can see and handle friendly farm animals, including more unusual breeds! Holyfield Hall
Farm is the 900-acre site of our working dairy and arable farm. On this farm, we have 150 dairy
cows and 100 beef cows, and grow maize, wheat and barley, which is used for animal feed.
Amazing learning opportunities! Lee Valley Park Farms is the perfect location to bring your classroom outdoors and equip your
pupils with first-hand experience of animals, life on the farm, and an understanding of where the
food in their lunchbox comes from. Children can see and discover:
The machinery we use to harvest our crops and milk our cows
How cows are milked
How milk gets from our cows to your fridge
Other products that are made from milk, beef or crops
How we feed, clean and care for our cows
How we look after our calves
How farmers help local wildlife
The many important jobs farmers do
Plus, get hands on with the animals at Hayes Hill Farm
Brilliant resources! Combined with our Teacher’s Resource Pack and Activity Packs, our two Lee Valley Park Farms
give you a rich and unique curriculum-focused learning experience, as well as lots of memorable
fun! That’s why we believe we’re the best animal farm in the area for kids, schools and families.

Lee Valley Park Farms Pre-visit checklist
Download our Risk Assessment statement and discuss hygiene and safety with your class. Practise proper hand-washing techniques*.
Call us on 01992 892 781 or email [email protected] to discuss parking arrangements, lunch facilities, our self-guided tours, and to book your visit and rides on Tex the Tractor.
If you want to look around Lee Valley Park Farms to plan your trip, free pre-farm visits are available to teachers on request. Call 01992 892 781 or email [email protected]
Once you’ve booked, decide on how much time to allow. We recommend a minimum of two hours, preferably four, to experience all the animals, have lunch, and see the cows being milked.
Advise parents and guardians to ensure that children are wearing appropriate clothing and footwear – wet weather clothing is a good idea and wellington boots, old trainers or sturdy walking shoes are also advisable.
Pack and organise any resources you need, including clipboards, paper and pens. Though we have a first-aid point at Reception, we recommend you also bring your own easy-to-access first-aid kit.
