The Vision of the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts is to provide a world class academic and arts education as the first arts magnet high school in Washington County and Western Maryland. The superior teaching and learning environment will enable students to study the arts for their intrinsic, aesthetic, cognitive, and cultural value. Through a program of individualized attention and personalization, students will be motivated to achieve in a challenging and supportive atmosphere that emphasizes a disciplined attitude and personal responsibility. A Current Look 2020-2021Student numbers
Lunch will be available through WCPS food services. Students may also bring lunch from home. Students eat their meals in new cafeteria in the Vincent Groh Academic Center.
Barbara Ingram School Students will be supervised by school staff during the school day. The school health clinic is located on the third floor of the Barbara Ingram building.
Classes begin at 9:05 AM and end at 4:27 PM. Freshman and Sophomore students will study their art/tech in the mid morning and academics in the afternoon. Junior and Senior students will study academics in the morning and arts/tech in the afternoon.
● Bus transportation will be provided between Barbara Ingram and all WCPS High Schools
● Barbara Ingram Students will ride their designated morning bus to their home-high school.
● Students will pick up the bus at their home-high school to be transported to Barbara Ingram.
● Buses will drop students off behind the Barbara Ingram building.
● In the afternoon, buses will transport students back to the home-high school.
● Parents are responsible for transportation from the home school in the afternoon

State Assessments in Math, English, Science and Social Studies Graduation Requirements dependent upon student cohorts.
University of Maryland Completer Program/CTE Completer
The University of Maryland Completer Program requires 2 World Language courses in the same language, and 4 credits of mathematics. The 4 mathematics credits must include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and one additional course that utilizes non-trivial algebra.

at the Honors and AP level.
● As incoming freshmen, all students will be automatically scheduled into Honors English 9, Honors US Studies II, Physical Education and Health/Life Skills/FOT.
● Honors Math and Honors Foreign Language placements are based on appropriate high school credits earned throughout middle school.
● Students who have yet to begin a Foreign Language pathway may choose to pursue Honors Spanish I or Honors French I.

Student Selection and Retention ● Students with the potential to pursue a professional career in their arts
discipline are selected through yearly auditions, open to incoming ninth graders and a limited number of upperclassmen.
● The admission process gives no consideration to past academic performance. In order to graduate, however, Barbara Ingram students must successfully meet the school's rigorous standards in both the arts and academic programs.
● Students will be placed on probation for any of the following:● Two or more failures on a report card ● Less than a 3.0 in the student’s major● Less than a 2.0 overall grade point average● Student misconduct
● Students on probation will be provided counseling and/or academic assistance.● Failure to maintain an overall grade point average of 2.0 will result in
dismissal from the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.
LINK CREW is coming to YOU!● Link Crew is a high school transition program that
welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience.
● Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Link Crew trains members of the junior and senior classes to be Link Leaders.
● As positive role models, Link Leaders are motivators, leaders and teachers who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school and help facilitate freshman success.
