Chart courtesy of Pride of New York Background map of Marlborough, circa 1880 Welcome to Marlborough, NY Helping to keep the Hudson Valley Green with Farms We welcome you to explore the panoramic views, picturesque working farms, and local culture. Our central location in the heart of the Hudson Valley means that we are an easy drive from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Come Meet Me in Marlborough for a taste of our bounty of farms/markets, wineries & businesses. Pick the freshest of fruits and produce, sip the finest wines, savor the agri-cuisine, take a pony, carriage or hayride, relax at luxurious spas, stay overnight at our hospitable B&B’s, browse the eclectic shops, take in the magnificent river valley, mountains and bucolic views. Marlborough’s Farming History First settled in 1694, Marlborough’s long and rich rural tradition can be seen in many small farms that developed in this area, as the rolling hills protected orchards from spring frosts, and the Hudson River provided easy transportation of fresh produce. Many waves of settlers came to Marlborough to farm. Our town’s heritage includes a diverse blend of nationalities and cultures. Meet Me in Marlborough is a group of Milton and Marlboro farmers and businesspeople united to promote local agriculture and tourism to a regional market. Our goal is to sustain our agricultural heritage and farming landscape while promoting economic growth and stability through agri-tourism. We invite you to support local farms and farm markets and help us preserve the beautiful farmland in our region. 3 Empire Rules Help sustain farming and keep the Hudson Valley GREEN with FARMS — BUY LOCAL. 1. Buy Direct from the Farmer. This will maximize their overall profit. Visit the farms, meet the farmers, pick fresh fruit and vegetables, taste their wines. 2. Visit your local farmers market. There, you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, farm products and wine. 3. Shop-Smart when you’re at the grocery store. To assure that you are purchasing a New York State apple look for the the NY Apple Coun- try, and Pride of NY logos. • Adams Fairacre Farms Supports & Features Local Produce & Products (www.adamsfarms.com). By following these 3 Empire Rules, you will be providing yourself with more nutritious and deli- cious, fresher and higher quality farm products. See Agricultural Members section for a full listing of Meet Me in Marborough farms and mem- bers that participate in local and regional farmer markets. Buy Local • Varieties are chosen for good flavor instead of long distance shipping qualities, so they don’t need waxing to stay fresh. • Fewer nutrients are lost between harvest and consumption. • Support family farms and neighbors. • Conserve farmland and local communities. • Fewer miles are traveled reducing air pollution and fossil fuel consumption. • Minimize your carbon footprint. Visit our ONLINE CALENDAR at www.meetmetinmarlborough.com for more events, festivals, activities, specials, notices and where to find Marlborough’s bounty. Welcome to Marlborough, NYHelping to keep the Hudson Valley Green with Farms

We welcome you to explore the panoramic views, picturesque working farms,

and local culture. Our central location in the heart of the Hudson Valley means

that we are an easy drive from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Come

Meet Me in Marlborough for a taste of our bounty of farms/markets, wineries &

businesses. Pick the freshest of fruits and produce, sip the finest wines, savor the

agri-cuisine, take a pony, carriage or hayride, relax at luxurious spas, stay overnight

at our hospitable B&B’s, browse the eclectic shops, take in the magnificent river

valley, mountains and bucolic views.

Marlborough’s Farming History

First settled in 1694, Marlborough’s long and rich rural tradition can be seen in many small farms that

developed in this area, as the rolling hills protected orchards from spring frosts, and the Hudson River

provided easy transportation of fresh produce. Many waves of settlers came to Marlborough to farm.

Our town’s heritage includes a diverse blend of nationalities and cultures.

Meet Me in Marlborough is a group of Milton and Marlboro farmers and businesspeople united to

promote local agriculture and tourism to a regional market. Our goal is to sustain our agricultural

heritage and farming landscape while promoting economic growth and stability through agri-tourism.

We invite you to support local farms and farm markets and help us preserve the beautiful farmland

in our region.

3 Empire RulesHelp sustain farming and keep the Hudson Valley GREEN with FARMS — BUY LOCAL.

1. Buy Direct from the Farmer. This will maximize their overall

profit. Visit the farms, meet the farmers, pick fresh fruit and vegetables, taste their wines.

2. Visit your local farmers market. There, you can buy fresh fruit,

vegetables, farm products and wine.

3. Shop-Smart when you’re at the grocery store.

To assure that you are purchasing a New York State apple look for the the NY Apple Coun-try, and Pride of NY logos.

• Adams Fairacre Farms Supports & Features Local Produce & Products (www.adamsfarms.com).

By following these 3 Empire Rules, you will be providing yourself with more nutritious and deli-cious, fresher and higher quality farm products. See Agricultural Members section for a full listing of Meet Me in Marborough farms and mem-bers that participate in local and regional farmer markets.

Buy Local

• Varieties are chosen for good flavor instead of long distance shipping qualities, so they don’t need waxing to stay fresh.

• Fewer nutrients are lost between harvest and consumption.

• Support family farms and neighbors.

• Conserve farmland and local communities.

• Fewer miles are traveled reducing air pollution and fossil fuel consumption.

• Minimize your carbon footprint.
