7 Steps To Installing A Split System A/C

The installation of split System A/Cs is a tough job. Never attempt it if you are not sure of the electrical and plumbing aspects it demands. However, it’s always advisable to get the hang of the general details. Read on.

1. Select Location For Indoor Unit•Choose an open and airy location.•Avoid direct heat sources, power lines, radio, TV, and telephones.•Make sure the unit has open spaces to its top and sides.•Mount unit 7 feet above ground.•Offer added support via wood/metal frame, if required.•Secure mounting plate.

2. Select Location For Piping Hole•The spot will depend on the opening of the mounting bracket.•Melbourne Split System installation requires you to keep in mind, the length of the pipe and its reach to the outside unit. •A hole of 3’’ diameter should be drilled such that it slopes towards the exterior for proper drainage.

3. Check Electrical Wiring•Refer to the given diagram in the manufacturer manual.•The electrical cables in the unit should be connected to the screw terminals.

4. Check The Piping System

•Insert the pipe from the indoor unit through the hole without bending.•The power cable, drain pipe and copper pipe should be bound with electrical tape.•Insert this combo through the drilled hole.

5. Select Location For Outdoor Unit•Choose location free from traffic, dust, and heat.•A minimum of 12” of space should surround the unit.•Install the concrete pad evenly.•Put rubber cushioning so that the pad resists vibrations from the unit.

6. Connect Power

•Refer to the diagram given in the manufacturer’s manual.•Connect the electrical cables accordingly and fasten with clamps.

7. Connect The Two Units•Fix a vacuum pump in the service port of the outdoor unit.•Run it till 10mm Hg (absolute vacuum) is achieved.•Test valves for leaks and remove vacuum.•Clamp the piping and cover it with insulating tapes.•Seal the hole on the wall.•Presto! Your A/C is ready for use!
