Many thanks to the Gonzalez Family for sharing their love for football this past family night! Maya Gonzalez (age 9) shared her thoughts of how Life is Like Football! “Your football is your hope and your faith. When people tackle you in football it is like when the struggles of life try to take your football (faith/hope) away. When you do something wrong in football you get a flag and have to sit on the sidelines. Same with life, the flags are life-your conscience telling you not to sin. The sidelines are life confession where you have to pray and ask for forgive-ness. When you get touchdown it is like when you reach heaven. You have been running and dodging all your life and now that you have held on to your football (faith/hope), He (God) opens His arms and takes in you, like He always has!”

SANTA CRUZ CATHOLIC SCHOOL/ESCUELA CATOLICA

News from the Principal’s DeskThis year our school is really focused on safety. We have a

newly formed Safety Committee that is regularly meeting to dis-cuss what things we need to put into place to insure the safety of our students if a crisis should arise. Besides holding regular fire drills, we also practice lockdowns and bad weather drills. But, we know there is more to it than just drills. Santa Cruz is a very open campus. We are situated next to a busy road, and we have many entrances and exits. Our students move from building to building all day long. So, we are organizing a Santa Cruz Parent Patrol. We are hoping to get one parent on campus each day who will act as an extra set of eyes for us. These parents, moms and dads, will patrol the areas where the most student activity is occurring. The new Safety Committee is organizing this group which will be visible by the special t-shirts they will be wearing, showing how the ministry of volunteerism is hard at work at Santa Cruz Catholic School.

On Friday, we will be having our parade of saints immediately following the 8:00 School Mass. Then, we will have fun all day long in Heaven as we participate in our All Saints’ Day Festival. Everyone is busy putting together their saints’ costumes for this great day!

Have a blessed week,Mrs. Flanagan

Non-Discrimination Policy: Schools within the Diocese of Austin do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in: (i) the admission of students; (ii) the offerings of rights, privileges, programs, or activities generally made available to their students; or (iii) the administration of educational policies, admissions policies, loan programs, athletic programs, employment practices or policies, or other school-administered programs.

Oct. 24 & 25, 2015 / 24 y 25 de octubre, 2015Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Oct. 24-25, 201530th Sunday in Ordinary TimeBartimaeus, reaching out to the Lord, offers a helpful reminder that what God has for us is indeed for us. Even in the midst of people attempting to silence Bartimaeus, he persisted by continuing to call on the Lord, the only person who could help him. May all who suffer in body or spirit be encouraged to call on the Lord.

Sincere thanks to all of the parishioners who help tidy up the church after Mass (raising up the kneelers, straightening the missalettes) to get it ready for the next Mass. We all appreci-ate entering church for Mass and finding the church clean and well organized. Parishioners can help in this effort by raising the kneeler when they leave and returning the missalettes to their original positions. Thank you!

¡Gracias!

Please refer to the Catholic Charities social media page/website for more information on how we can help.

Please make sure that you write a complete family name and an address, please do not only write the “Smith Fam-ily”, as this does not help us give you proper credit.
