Good Night Future

Charger Parents! We

are looking forward to

making lasting

educational experiences

for your children.

Questions and Answers

Q: When do parents get a tour of the building? A: In the past we have offered an open house. More information on dates and times will be posted on our website in the future.

Q: When do parents meet teachers? A: Parents meet teachers on Back to School Night. This date will be announced later in the school year.

Q: What are the hours of the after school activities? A: After school activities are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 4:00. The specific day for each activity is posted on our website. Q: How much homework can we expect?A: Homework is assigned daily, but it varies depending on each subject. Teachers keep a calendar of major assignments and exams and we do our very best to limit major assessments to two per day. If you feel the amount of homework is overwhelming at any time during the school year, please contact the teacher or the counseling department and we will help you.

Questions and Answers

Q: Is there much project-based learning? A: Our teachers are skilled at differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each student in their class. Projects are one component of how teachers assess how much a student knows. Some classes tend to use more projects than others based on the individual course objectives.

Q: Are intramural sports available to sixth graders? A: No, intramural sports are for 7th and 8th grade students only. 6th grade students are allowed to participate in our after school activities and clubs.

Q: Are students guaranteed their elective of choice? A: In 6th grade, students are either in band, orchestra or the exploratory classes as their elective.

Q: What are hours for the mini-day on August 27th?A: The mini-day is from 7:45 – 11:45. It is for all 6th grade students as well as students new to Hoover. Students will get their lockers, walk through their schedule, and meet their teachers. It is for the students only. Students that are bus riders will be picked up and dropped off just like the first day of school.
