Welcome!

St. Simon’s is a community of faith, celebrating God’s love for all

and seeking to embody Christ in the world.

Today’s service is found in the bulletin. Music that is not included in the bulletin can be found in the blue hymnal.

Restrooms are at the bottom of the stairs in the main entrance and in the office wing.

The password for the Wi-Fi in the parish hall is welcome!

Interested in learning more? Please take one of the welcome cards in the pew. If you would like, you may drop the tear off slip in the offering plate. More information is available at www.saintsimons.org.

Welcome Children! We are delighted by your presence. You are welcome as full partici-pants in our worship.

Several pews near the front are re-served for families so kids can see the action of worship. Quiet Bags are found at the Kid’s Corner in the entry, and young children will find quiet toys in the Soft Space ahead of the front pew. A parent should sit with Soft Space users.

Active pre-schoolers may enjoy our spacious Nursery - at the foot of the stairs in the entry area.

Entering In

Paul writes to the church in Galatia, “There is no longer Jew or

Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and

female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.”

Engaging the Day

Join us for fellowship in the Entry following the 8:00 a.m. service

and on the front lawn following the 10:00 a.m. service.

Today, representatives of the Vestry will hold a brief update and

Q&A on where we stand as a Parish on our search for an Interim

and Permanent Rector. Please feel free to join us in the Sanctuary

following each of the services.

Honor Acolyte Lydia Campe

Next year, Lydia is going to Miami University

in Oxford, Ohio, major in linguistics with a

minor in French. One of her favorite memo-

ries from St. Simon’s was performing in the

Christmas pageant. Her favorite part was

when they would parade around the church

at the end singing Go Tell it on the Mountain.

Practicing Gratitude

We are grateful the College of Congregational Development offered

this next week by our diocese, and for the members of our

community who are taking the time to attend, and then return to St.

Simon’s to share with us what they have learned.

Orthopraxy: The Path of Practice

Jew and Greek, slave and free, male and female, were labels in the

first century of the Christian era that all could agree to. Paul writes

to the Galatians that those categories no longer existed in Christ.

What might we add to that list? In the current climate of them vs.

us, how can we live out our oneness in the cosmic Christ that Paul

preached?

Welcome to St. Simon’s June 23, 2019

College of Congregational Development: Year Two

Sunday, June 23 - Saturday, June 29 A team from St. Simon’s (René Schreiner, Ida Butler, Jo Ann Lagman, and Stephen Smith) will be attending the final week-long training for the College of Congre-gational Development. The comprehensive training program seeks to help churches develop healthy, faith-ful, and sustainable congregations and leaders. We look forward to utilizing the skills and tools they will bring back with them here at St. Simon's and also in the church at large.

CCD: Recap

Sunday, June 30 | 9:00 a.m. Having just returned from the second week of training at the College for Congregational Development, René Schreiner and Stephen Smith will informally share some reflections on the week's events. The College, a program of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago seeks to nurture and develop congregational development prac-titioners from within existing parish lay and clergy leadership. Come hear what their learnings meant for each of them personally, as well as what they can mean for future work at St. Simon’s as we go through transi-tion over the next year.
