Stanford Stadium (85,500) is the largestprivately owned college football facilityin the United States. The Stadium hasplayed host to Super Bowl XIX, Men’sand Women’s World Cup Soccermatches, Olympic Soccer competition,and countless college football games.

Set in a parklike setting among groves ofeucalyptus and oak trees, StanfordStadium is a perfect setting for FootballSaturdays, with fans tailgating andenjoying the pregame festivities prior to kickoff.

FootballFacilities

Stanford’s Athletics facilities are perhaps the finest in collegiate athletics, and Stanford’s football program is no exception.

The Stanford football program ishoused in the spacious ArrillagaFamily Sports Center, which includesadministrative offices, meeting rooms,training facilities and even a full-sizedbasketball court. The football lockerroom is located on the ground floor,and an extensive weight training facilityis located downstairs. The ArrillagaFamily Sports Center also includes arestaurant and the Stanford AthleticsHall of Fame Room, with its impressivedisplay of Stanford’s 10 Directors’ Cupsand NCAA trophies.

The football practice fields are locateddirectly across from the ArrillagaFamily Sports Center, adjacent to theworld-class Avery Aquatic Complex.

Stanford athletes enjoy access to themost modern and up-to-date equipmentand technology available in the field ofstrength and conditioning.

Under the guidance of Head StrengthCoach Ron Forbes, all Cardinal footballplayers receive a personalized strengthand conditioning program specificallydesigned to meet their individualneeds and help them develop their full potential.

Each athlete has a comprehensive periodized exercise program to improve such athletic performance variables as strength, speed,acceleration, agility, muscular endurance, balance, coordination, flexibility and body composition.

Football players complement their collegiate playing career with a prestigious Stanford education. StanfordUniversity is consistently ranked asone of the best overall colleges in thenation. Each player has access to theAthletic Academic Resource Center(AARC). In the AARC, finding the bal-ance between academics and athleticsis key. Counselors and tutors work withstudent-athletes to make their academic lives as smooth as possible.Stanford players earn meaningfuldegrees most often in four years.Athletes are also eligible to apply for a fifth year of study in order to pursue a Master’s degree in manydepartments.
