Hello and welcome to Terex in Crailsheim, our Center of Compact Production and Competency in Germany for Terex® compact construction machines. Here in southwest Germany we develop, assemble, and sell compact wheel loaders worldwide, as well as mini and midi crawler and compact wheeled excavators.

We hope you have an exciting tour. Building compact construction machines is our great passion and skill. For more than 75 years, building machines has been our lifeblood – we have been on site at Crailsheim for more than 30 years. Our ideas like the Knickmatik® system and top-mounted cylinder design have brought innovation to the construction machinery industry. And even today, our expertise is market-defining. For our customers, our expertise has paid off, thanks to extremely productive, reliable construction machines.

FACTORY TOURDuring your factory tour, you will gain fascinating insights into our machine manufacturing. You will learn how we develop our production and aim for maximum performance.

ON YOUR MARKS, SET, GO!

HIGH QUALITYEverything at Terex revolves around supplying our customers with quality. You can see this at every processing step during your factory tour. Before the machine is allowed on a construction site, we test everything extremely thoroughly.

LEAN MANUFACTURINGUsing our “mixed model lines”, we manufacture in a very customer-oriented way: we construct quickly and efficiently exactly to customer specifications. At Terex, we rigorously focus on continuous improvement (or “Kaizen”, if you are familiar with Lean terminology). You will hear us talking a lot about this during the tour as we are constantly researching and implementing smarter, more efficient ways of working in order to serve ourcustomers better. We remove the muda (waste), muri (overburden) and mura (unevenness) in our processes to help ensure a smooth and stable production line and a high quality finished product.

SAFETYWhen Terex team members and visitors enter the Crailsheim facility, safety is of paramount importance. Our tools, equipment, practices, workspaces and materials have been selected, designed and are used with safety in mind. Furthermore, we promote operational safety through Visual Management, a process which communicates information about the facility with signs and signals versus written text. At the beginning of the tour you will be given a safety briefing and provided with the appropriate personal protective equipment i.e. high-visibility jacket, safety glasses, ear plugs and protective boots, where necessary. For your safety, please remain within the marked walkways at all times.

MOVING ON…

HISTORYSUCCESS IS AN INTERESTING STORY75 years of construction machine history. That’s 75 years of pioneering spirit. A success story with countless highlights.• 1937: Company established with lawn mowers among the first machines produced.

• 1949: Friedrich Schaeff and Hans Schaeff take on managing the company and construct the first dozers for Lanz Bulldog tractors.

• 1950-1960: A skid-steer loader for numerous attachment carriers is the first to be produced in series. The first in-house hydraulic attachment excavator goes on the market. The HML 25, with tri-axle chassis, is the first wheeled excavator.

• 1970-1980: With the SKL500, the first in-house wheeled loader began work on construction sites. The Knickmatik® system was invented – one of the most important excavator technologies to date. The first walking excavator parades around Hanover Trade Fair. Founding and expansion of the Crailsheim factory. The first mini excavators designed and built in Germany are brought onto the market.

• 1990-2000: The product range is extended. In 2001, Terex takes the helm.

• 2002 – to date: Terex centralizes production and establishes the Center of Compact Production and Competency in Germany, sales has an international focus. Increasingly, products are exported to India, Russia, China, and the USA.

INTERESTING FACTS FROM THE REGIONWelcome to one of the most beautiful areas of Germany. This region is a good place to work, enjoy the cultural and culinary enjoyments, or simply relax. Perhaps you will have the opportunity to discover the region of Hohenlohe or neighboring Franconia. It is really worth it.

Schwäbisch Hall - escape from everyday life and have fun! Experience a modern city with lots of medieval flair. It is a unique, historic old town with some of the nicest markets in Germany that are most inviting. Plentiful cultural events and culinary delights confirm its reputation as the living center of the Hohenlohe region.

The town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is pure romanticism.The historic night watchman tour through the medieval center is unique across Germany. Few other cities make such an impression or embody history in such a lively way.
