WELCOME TO THE 2TH IFK!
The 2th International Fluid Power Con-ference (IFK) will be held in Dresden on March 9-, 2020. The IFK is one of the world’s most significant scientific con-ferences on fluid power control techno-logy and systems. It offers a common platform for the presentation and dis-cussion of trends and innovations to ma-nufacturers, users and scientists.
On the first day the symposium is dedi-cated to presentations focused on me-
thodology and fundamental research. The following two conference days offer a wide variety of application and technology orientated con-tributions about the latest state of the art in fluid power. It is this com-bination that makes the IFK a unique and excellent forum for the ex-change of academic research and industrial application experience. A simultaneously ongoing exhibition offers the possibility to get product information and to have individual talks with manufacturers.
Fluid Power - Future Technology! Giving credit to this motto, the 2th IFK proves that fluid power adapts to technological challenges and de-livers cutting edge drive solutions. Due to a variety of control strategies and easy-to-use interfaces for control and monitoring, fluid-mechatro-nic systems are enablers for production, transportation and processing systems of the future. The seamless integration provides a foundation for the advancing digitalization and automatization within industry and thus for technological progress.
The IFK is gathering of global fluid power experts in Dresden, in order to present, shape and discuss the future of fluid-mechatronic systems. Over 100 international scientific and application oriented contributions offer an overview of current trends, novel applications and research on the entire field of fluid power.
Social events complete the setting on all three evenings. A perfect op-portunity for busy networking or enjoying time amongst peers!
I welcome you warmly!
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Weber

Dresden is often nicknamed “Elbfl orenz”, denoting it as the german equivalent of the famous tuscan city. And that is for a reason! The IFK will be held in the middle of the famous historical city center, framed by baroque buildings and overviewing the Elbe river. The International Conference Center is designed to make its visitors feel safe and com-fortable. It has direct, barrier-free access for the visitors with special needs.
The local Elbe valley and its direct surroundings is a pathway of both cultural landscapes from the 18th- and 19th-century and of one of the most stunning geological landscapes in Germany. The palaces of Meiβen, Pillnitz and Moritzburg, the porcelain manufactory in Meiβen, and the fortifi cations at Königstein are all within reach by the city’s pu-blic transportation. As a scenic highlight, Saxon Switzerland is perfectly located near Dresden for all nature and outdoor activities lovers. It is placed to the south-east of Dresden, not far from the city center and within comfortable reach of public transportation, off ering endless pos-sibilities for hiking and climbing.
So do not miss the chance to enjoy the fl air of the saxon capital and combine your IFK-visit with a unique travel experience in Dresden.
DRESDEN - THE FLORENCE OF THE ELBE
ERICH KÄSTNERauthor and poet, native of Dresden
Dresden – a wonderful city, full of art and history but still not a museum lived-in accidentally by Dresden’s inhabitants. The past and the present live together in harmony. Or I should rather say polyphony. And toge-ther with its surroundings, with the Elbe, the bridges, the hilly slopes, the stretches of forests and mountains on the horizon, one could even speak of a whole sym-phony. History, art and nature waft over the city and the valley like a chord enchanted by its own harmony.

EXHIBITION
The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition with nearly 1200m² of exhibition area. It provides the opportunity to gather infor-mation on innovative products and system solutions, but also offers an attractive platform for the presentation of new products and deve-lopments. Beyond this, you will have the chance to get in touch and converse with experts of the fluid power industry.
Following the great success from the 8th and 0th IFK in Dresden the ex-hibition will similarly be placed in the center of the conference building. This location directly between the session rooms guaranties an easy ac-cess for visitors. During the entire conference period, snacks and drinks will be served between the sessions in the exhibition area. The exhibiti-on will be opened with a Get-Together in the evening of March 9, 2020.
In addition to the technical lectures held in the presentations halls, the-re will be poster sessions (page 22) on the exhibition site. Researchers display the results of their latest research throughout the duration of the exhibition. During the coffee breaks on Tuesday (3:15 – 3:45 pm) and Wednesday (3:50 – 4:20 pm), the authors will be on the spot to present their work and answer questions.
Further information, such as floor plan and exhibitor index, can be found in the additional exhibition directory.

Peer-review procedureMany public institutions that support research projects require regular publication of the results. To ensure that the results are of scientific value, peer review is often required. We would like to offer scientists the opportunity to have their work evaluated in order to be able to prove the scientific value. For evaluation relevant are criteria like novelty and scientific or industrial relevance of the topic, validation of the results, correct citation and comprehensive and logic conclusions.
The IFK traditionally is a colloquium where both scientists and repre-sentatives of industry come together to exchange their knowledge and experience. Accordingly, a peer review is only meaningful for some of the speakers, with the associated additional effort for both sides. The-refore the peer review is not intended to classify the paper but rather to support the need for it.
GFPS best paper awardThe GFPS best paper award is given to aut-hors of papers recognized for outstanding work in fluid power, in both the manuscript preparation and the conference presentation. The conference organizers will select a numb-er of papers candidate for the award from the results of the paper review process. Therefore
only peer-reviewed contributions will be considered for the GFPS best paper award. A GFPS delegation will review the selected manuscripts and attend the presentation of each candidate paper. The best paper will be selected on the basis of originality, rigorousness, and technical contents of the manuscript and the quality of the presentation. The pre-senting author will receive a monetary prize and a certificate and will be honored in the course of the farewell at the end of the conference.
