Distelhausen was founded at around 800 A.D. and is home to about 941 residents. The town is located south to Tauberbischofsheim and on the right hand side of the river Tauber, where you can take a bike tour on the 5*-Cycle route "Liebliches Taubertal". Besides plenty of
half-timbered houses and wayside shrines, the Rokoko interior of the Church St. Markus as well as the St. Wolfgang Chapel are defi nitely worth a sight, with the latter being the destination of the annually mounted procession which goes back to the year 1472. You can also visit the farm museum and the Distelhäuser brewery. And if you're hungry, the local gastronomy invites you to stay and eat.
Dittigheim and its 938 resi-dents have a lot of history to tell: The fi ndings of a prehis-toric grave verify that peop-le fi rst settled here as long as 4000 years ago. The fi rst mentioning of todays Dittig-heim goes back to the year of 768. The baroque church St. Vitus which was built by
Balthasar Neumann from 1748 to 1752 as well as the generously decorated way-side shrines are worth a sight. The town which is known for its wine is located along the 5*-Cycle route "Liebliches Taubertal" south to Tauberbischofsheim and on the lefthand side of the river Tauber.
TAUBERBISCHOFSHEIM and its districtsIn the year 2014, Dienstadt looked back at its 700 years of history. The town and its around 336 residents are located in a romantic side valley of the river Tauber. The pilgrim route "Jakobs-wanderweg Taubertal" will lead you through this town with the prominent Church
Jakobskirche and the Jakobsbrunnen as well as the old school building from 1886, which is under historic preservation. Located in the outskirts of Dienstadt, there is an idyllic recreational area with the possibility to tread water at the Kneipp facility. Here you will also fi nd a pond, a playground and a beach-volleyball fi eld as well as a barbecue area, so it's the perfect place for young and old to enjoy their stay.
Located in the idyllic Muck-bach-Valley, Dittwar with its 753 residents was fi rst men-tioned at around the year 1100. A sight worth seeing is the baroque church from 1754 with a beautiful go-thic sacrament niche from around 1500 built into the choir. The cross chapel and
the over 30 wayside shrines and stone crosses further testify the faith. Another place worth visiting is the village museum in the town center. If you are up for a hike, the marked hiking trails invite you to explore Dittwar.
The town of Hochhausen – 766 residents – in the north of Tauberbischofsheim is connected to a more rural town center (Gräunauer Hof, Gasthaus Engel). Located right next to the river Tauber, Hochhausen has the most charming Tauber-bridge of Baden. Furthermore there
are shell limestone slopes with neglected grassland, which is a paradise for rare insects. Besides that you have a lively community, restaurants right beside the river, neat holiday apartments and guestrooms as well as a good public trans-portation and leisure activities such as: The 5*-Cycle route "Liebliches Tauber-tal", Hiking trails with a view of the Tauber-valley, canoe tours and gliding.
The precious medieval fres-cos in the church St. Niko-laus make Impfi ngen with its 1.128 residents worth a visit. Besides that there are beautiful wayside shrines on the loop hiking trail and a small village museum in the old shool building. Impfi ngen provides plenty leisure activ-
ities and clubs. The attractive building area is in high demand because of the beautiful view of the Taubertal and its location close to the city core. Especially young families are attracted by Impfi ngen because of the local elementary school, Kindergarten as well as playgrounds and sports grounds. The renaturation of the river Tauber gave Impfi ngen a local biotope. The Landscape, scenery and insects benefi t from the growing ecological diver-sity. Taking the cycle route in or out of Impfi ngen (Erlebnistour 7: TBB by Bike), the tour will guide you alongside the renaturalized river Tauber.
Welcome to the resort town of Tauberbischofsheim! The northernmost city of Baden-Württemberg is worth a visit for its wide range of tourist offers – ranging from sights and attrac-tions to events. Tauberbischofsheim is characterized by its historic city core as well as plenty of half-timbered houses alongside the newly designed pedestrian zone and the market place, where the neo-gothic townhall is the most striking building of all.Ranging from churches, chapels and museums to the fencing cen-ter, there is a lot to explore and experience in Tauberbischofsheim.
