Welcome to School of Design (SoD) at the MIT World PeaceUniversity!

Design is an enabler and to design is very human. The agenda forenabling peace through value-based integral education and tosustain it can be addressed by human-centered design interventionsbeyond effectively making these user-centered. Meeting the criteriafor design and design education that could be derived from grandchallenges that influence the well-being of individuals, societies andthe habitability of the planet make the pursuit of learning relevant,long-lasting and meaningful to humanity.

In this broad learning context, we at the MIT-WPU School of Design, are poised to offer world-class design education through a four yearfull-time undergraduate Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) degree. This isoffered across Product Design(PD), User Experience Design(UX) andVisual Communication Design(VC). Within B.Des., while the studentsare driven to make creative abilities their forte, the curriculum alsourges them to do so responsibly and stay relevant to the times.

MIT-WPU School of Design wishes to achieve these by leveragingand humanizing technology, striking partnerships with industry andacademia, enabling social innovation and having a coherent designresearch-driven agenda across all these efforts.

Having won accolades nationally, evident from our NIRF and TIMES Rankings, weare striving hard to be recognized at the international level as well. In this endeavor,‘Industry-Readiness at The Global Level” and “Research & Innovation” are our keyfocus areas.

There is a huge demand for an industry-ready manpower that is conversant with thelatest technologies adopted by the industry. Therefore, it is necessary, asacademicians, that we contribute to the growth of our nation by groomingprofessionals, who are conversant with the current advances and practices in theindustry.

Building a strong industry-academia connect is a priority for me. My team of facultymembers is continuously revising the engineering curriculum in consultation withthe top industry experts. Keeping the latest technological advancements in mind,we are introducing the following important courses in our B. Tech curriculum for thebenefit of all students enrolled in engineering, irrespective of their chosen branch inengineering: Python Programing, Basic IoT Laboratory, Data Science for Engineers,Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Probability and Statistics.

To add to this significant change in our curriculum, the Faculty of Engineering andTechnology has done another path-breaking change in the structure of itsengineering education with the introduction of a Minor in Computer Science for allengineering students, with the exception of those already pursuing ComputerScience or Computer Engineering. This change has been made in view of the surgein demand for professionals with a background in Computer Engineering along withdomain knowledge of other subjects in fields like Civil, Chemical, Mechanical,Polymer, etc.

MIT-WPU, with its legacy of four decades of association with

industries/universities of repute around the world,

encourages its students to undertake an International

Study Tour (IST). This tour, featuring visits to the best of the

universities in the UK, Europe and Asia, will ensure that the

students are enriched with unmatched learning.

I would strongly urge all the students to opt for this

program which will help you evolve as a world citizen

coming out from MIT World Peace University.
