Server Hosting
Storage • Provides primary file storage for departments through
enterprise class NAS.
• Typically provided through the use of the CIFS protocol and
now NFS protocol as well.
Virtual Server Hosting • Departments can utilize ITS' enterprise data center to house
their own servers.
• A cost effective alternative to operating a departmental
server and includes storage and backup services utilizing
clustered enterprise class servers running the
VMware/ESX virtualization suite.

• Virtual server host services include basic operating system
installation (Windows or RedHat Enterprise Linux)
and patches.
• For virtual server hosts, memory and disk space utilization is
constrained by available resources.
• Patched on a prearranged schedule in consultation with the
departments.

the hosts.
