From our homepage, click the "Register” tab, which takes you to our registration page.  Enter your name, email address, and create a username and password. We have a strict privacy policy for your protection.

Sign-in and go to “Purchase Credits” and select the course appropriate for your needs:

Complete your purchase.

To successfully complete the course to become a Registered Practitioner with the NYSDOH, you must complete the FIVE Required Sections for the 2-Hour Course OR the SEVEN Required Sections for the 4-Hour Course (included in your purchase).

From the homepage, click the “Study Now” tab to access the Medical Education Library.

Once you are in the “Medical Education Library” area, select the course you purchased, if it is not already selected for you:

The arrow in a green circle to the left of the list of courses indicates which course has been selected.

Please make sure you are trying to access the course you purchased before continuing.

The syllabus topics for this course will then appear in the list at the bottom of the page.

Click on the “Study Now” link next to Section 1.0 to begin the course.

Now you should see Section 1.0, Part 1.

After reading the content in this part, click “Next

Part” in the upper right-hand corner to advance

to the next part of this section.

If you’d like to see all of the questions and answers of a Part on one page, click “View Entire Question & Answer.”

This “View Entire Question and Answer” area also allows you to print the entire part.

If you have clicked the “View Entire Question & Answer” link and want to go onto the Next Part of the topic, click “close window” and click the blue “Next Part” button.

After reviewing all the parts of a syllabus topic, click the “To earn course credit” link above the questions, or the blue Course Credit button at the bottom of the page, to navigate to the quiz.

Complete the Quiz. In order to earn Course Completion Credit, you must score at least 70%.

Continue with the rest of the Syllabus Topics in the course. Make sure you take and pass the quiz for each Syllabus Topic.

Once you have passed all Syllabus Topic Quizzes in the Course, you will be eligible to be a Registered Practitioner with the NYSDOH. (see below)

To print a completion certificate, go to the My Account tab and click the My Certificates option.

From the My Certificates area, you may print your Course Completion Certificate by clicking “Print A Certificate”

Then click “Request Certificate”…

Your Course Completion certificate will be displayed for printing or saving as a pdf file.

Practitioners who have completed the course and who wish to register with NYSDOH to certify patients for medical marijuana must follow the below steps:

1. Log into the Health Commerce System

2. Select “All Applications” from the “My Content” dropdown menu

3. Click the “M” tab, find the Medical Marijuana Data Management System (MMDMS) application in the list, and click the green and white “+” icon in the “Add/Remove” column to add the MMDMS application.

4. After selecting the MMDMS application, practitioners will be prompted to enter information to complete the registration process. 

In order for Physician Assistants (PAs) to access the Medical Marijuana Data Management System (MMDMS) to register with the Medical Marijuana Program and issue certifications for medical marijuana to patients, at least one of their registered supervising physicians must

provide authorization within MMDMS. Instructions on how Registered Practitioners authorize Physician Assistants (PAs) under their supervision are available on the medical marijuana program webpage.
