Slide 29 Trinity Childrens Time! Slide 30 First Reading 2 Peter 3: 8 13 Text Slide 31 Dear friends, dont forget that for the Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years is the same as one day. The Lord isnt slow about keeping his promises, as some people think he is. In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost. The day of the Lords return will surprise us like a thief. Slide 32 The heavens will disappear with a loud noise, and the heat will melt the whole universe. Then the earth and everything on it will be seen for what they are. Everything will be destroyed. So you should serve and honor God by the way you live. You should look forward to the day when God judges everyone, and you should eagerly desire for that day to come. On that day the heavens will be destroyed by fire, and everything else will melt in the heat. But God has promised us a new heaven and a new earth, where justice will rule. We are really looking forward to that! Slide 33 Refrain Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel. Refrain Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel. Slide 34 Second Reading Mark 1: 1 8 Slide 35 As it is written in the prophet Isaiah, See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way; the voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight, John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And people from the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. Slide 36 Now John was clothed with camels hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. He proclaimed, The one who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thong of his sandals. I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. The words of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God Slide 37 The Word Preached A New Heaven and a New Earth Pastor Geri Hamlen Slide 38 The Battle Hymn of the Republic 717 1. A SERVICE OF WORD AND TABLE II Slide 50 Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another. Slide 51 Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. CONFESSION AND PARDON Slide 52 We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Slide 53 Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Slide 54 Hear the good news: Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves Gods love toward us. Slide 55 In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! Glory to God. Amen. We lift them up to the Lord. THE GREAT THANKSGIVING Slide 59 Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. Slide 60 It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. Slide 61 And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn: Slide 62 Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Slide 63 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Slide 64 Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ. Slide 65 By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection you gave birth to your church, delivered us from slavery to sin and death, and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit. Slide 66 On the night in which he gave himself up for us, he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples and said: Slide 67 Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. Slide 68 When the supper was over, he took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said: Slide 69 Drink from this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Slide 70 Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. Slide 71 And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christs offering for us, Slide 72 as we proclaim the mystery of faith. Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again. Slide 73 Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine. Slide 74 Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the body of Christ, redeemed by his blood. Slide 75 By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world, Slide 76 until Christ comes in final victory and we feast at his heavenly banquet. Slide 77 Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy church, all honor and glory is yours, almighty Father, now and forever. Amen.
