Set foot inside Ambleside and you’ll immediately notice the welcoming family atmosphere. We pride ourselves on delivering the best in quality care services for older people in warm and luxurious surroundings.

Our new, purpose-built care home opened in October 2013 and provides nursing, residential and respite care through to specialist care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. From the building design to the members of our care team and even the menus we create, you’ll find that every thought is given to ensuring that your loved one enjoys the best of care.

All the members of our care team receive regular training to ensure that they are up-to-date with good care practice, including the latest techniques in supporting people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

Making every meal a treatThe chefs at Ambleside pride themselves on producing fresh, seasonal and delicious meals every day. What’s more, there’s always a good selection of tasty snacks and cakes on offer throughout the day – or night.

If our residents would like to prepare their own drink or snack, then that’s not a problem, our care staff show residents around the kitchen areas, so they can enjoy a cup of tea, whenever they wish.

Good food with great friendsMeal times are always a big event at Ambleside. They’re a chance to savour the tasty, always changing menus put together by our dedicated chefs – and to chat with friends or family.

Our chefs pride themselves on creating menus using carefully selected, fresh ingredients, with a focus on choice and nutrition, but above all, taste. We’ve plenty to tempt the most fastidious of appetites and our chefs enjoy chatting to residents to discover more about their likes and dislikes.

Special diets, including cultural requirements, can be easily catered for – just let us know. Fresh fruit, snacks and refreshments are available 24 hours a day. Our chefs are always cooking up something special to help celebrate a birthday, anniversary or occasion – big or small.

You’ll love the detailsThroughout the home you’ll spot lots of little touches designed with your loved one’s comfort, relaxation and entertainment in mind. There are cosy, intimate lounges and sitting areas where they can relax and spend time with you.

We’ve also used contrasting colour schemes around the home. As well as creating a bright and colourful atmosphere, this helps residents who are living with dementia to understand where they are and to feel more comfortable. Other details around the home help to do the same, including memory boxes placed outside some residents’ rooms. These can be filled with familiar objects to them, so they can see at a glance that they’ve found their room. It also makes for great reminiscences with carers and friends.

For those who are fond of getting out in the community, we are ideally placed for a number of independent and high street stores based in Stratford-upon-Avon town centre, along with all the major banks and building societies.

Many residents are locals and like to catch up with friends who live nearby. We encourage them to continue visiting the clubs and societies they belong to in the local area.

We also help residents to keep in touch with loved ones who live far away.

WiFi is available throughout the home, and we’re constantly looking into new ways we can help residents to communicate with family and friends as often as they wish.

We’re part of the local community - and part of the family. We love welcoming residents’ friends and family, day or night.

Members of local clubs and societies, as well as local schoolchildren and volunteers often visit us to entertain residents or just have a chat. There’s always a warm welcome and a cup of tea waiting.

Choice, space and luxuryAll our dining rooms and lounges areindividually decorated and themed, and eachbedroom has been decorated differently togive new residents lots of choice. A numberof the rooms have garden access, and all arelarge and furnished to the highest standardswith luxurious furnishings and fittings.Each has an en-suite wet room, flat-screentelevision, adjustable profile bed, 24-hournursing call system, plus phone and internetconnection points.

Everyone likes to have their own familiarthings around them. That’s why weencourage residents to bring in personalitems and pieces of furniture so they canmake their rooms more homely and familiar.

Make yourself at homeThe home has been designed to an attractive contemporary design with large windows that fill the home with light. Each floor – or suite has its own lounge and dining area to create the feel of a small community and the home is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Keeping active and having funWe call it Activity Based Care. It’s at the heart of everything we do at Ambleside. It’s simply about helping residents to stay active and independent and continue making decisions for themselves – whether about their care, the activities we do, or even the meals we serve.

Get involved or happy to watch?Every resident at Ambleside is encouraged to carry on enjoying the hobbies and interests they love. Of course, we’re guided by them, and wouldn’t dream of making someone do anything they don’t want to. However, those who do join in often discover new talents or just enjoy getting to know other residents through the many individual and group activities laid on by our resourceful activity co-ordinators.

You name it, we do it: from baking and cake decorating to cinema evenings and a variety of arts and crafts. We also organise regular reminiscence sessions, singalongs, games and quizzes. We like getting out and about too, and exploring local places of interest. Naturally we welcome residents’ ideas and suggestions for exciting things to do, and do what we can to make them happen.
