We Prepare for God’s Word
PRELUDE Prelude in C Major, Op. 9 Ludwig van Beethoven
WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
*CALL TO WORSHIP AND OPENING PRAYER
Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. On a high mountain, Jesus was transfigured, and God said: This is My Beloved Son.
Let us pray:
O God of the covenant, the cloud of Your splendor and the fire of Your love revealed Your Son on the mountain heights. Transform our lives in His image, write Your law of love on our hearts, and make us prophets of Your glory, that we may lead others into Your presence. Amen.
*HYMN 75 O Wondrous Sight, O Vision Fair DEO GRACIAS
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of glory, we confess that we have not sought Your face. The prayer continues.

WHAT’S HAPPENING
Ash Wednesday Services Join us for worship on February 26 at 6:30 am, 12:15 pm or 7:30 pm and receive the imposi-tion of ashes as a call to remember our humanity and mortality. Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent and our preparation for the celebration of Easter. The ashes hold great power for us as we both hear the words and feel the ashes being placed on our foreheads: “You are dust and to dust you shall return.”
West Point Band Concert The renowned West Point Band returns to West Side on March 1 at 3:00 pm as part of the West Side Concert Series. The band’s Masterworks Concert Series offers something for everyone—music new and old for sym-phonic winds, virtuosic solos, uplifting and entertaining vocal numbers and, of course, the marches and patriotic songs that you would expect from the Army’s oldest band. Pieces include Felix Mendelssohn’s “Konzertstucke No. 2,” Anne McGinty’s “Syntonos” and Alfred Reed’s “Hounds of Spring.” The performance will be topped off with a medley of swing selections from “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” Reserve FREE tickets at: http://bit.ly/2scdeBA.
Lenten Sermon Series: The Beatitudes What if nine ancient blessings contain the keys to our liberation during these turbulent times? This Lenten season we’ll be journeying with the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12), a series of bless-ings declared by Jesus at the beginning of his Sermon on the Mount—blessings that have the power to revolutionize our lives, our communities and even our world. Each week during Lent, we’ll reflect on one Beatitude in worship on Sunday morning (and Wednesday evening...see below) as well as in small groups. May this journey of Lent help us all return to the way of Jesus, renew our commitment to be more Christ-like and empower us to be transformed in order to help transform the world.
Wednesday Night @ West Side Push pause on the week and deepen your Lenten practice on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm. We’ll be worshiping “in the round,” offering a different experience each week:

A Cappella Sunday In a movement begun by the Center for Congregational Song, churches around the world will be singing a cappella on the first Sunday of Lent—March 1. At the 8:15 am and 10:15 am services, our hymns and responses will be sung a cappella to help focus us on the season and connect us to the times in church history when all worship music was offered without instru-ments. Join us for this new experience at West Side.
New Member Class Are you ready to make West Side your church home? You’re invited to attend a New Member Class on April 19 and May 3, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. (Dinner and child care will be provid-ed.) This dynamic two-part class is designed to help you get to know our clergy and church leaders, learn about West Side and its ministries, connect with other prospective members, ask questions and consider how God is calling you to become part of our ministry and mission. Please reach out to Pastor Penny ([email protected]) if you’re interested in attending.
