COUNCILS Wincanton Town Council Wincanton Town Council – The Town Hall, Market Place, BA9 9LD – 01963 31693. The Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk are available at the office Monday – Thursday 9am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm and Fridays 9am – 12 noon. Wincanton Town Council is responsible for managing the Town Hall, which is a one-stop community centre offering help and advice on a range of local services. Wincanton Town Council owns the David Sharp Centre. The Town Council manages the Burial Ground situated at the top of Rickhayes Recreation Ground and the closed churchyard. The Town Council maintains a number of facilities throughout the town including three recreation grounds – Cale Park Recreation Ground, Penn View Recreation Ground and Coneygore, the Skate Park and Multi Use Games Area located at Southgate Road. Wincanton Town Council has fifteen Councillors who are elected every four years. The election for Town Council took place in May 2019. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are elected annually in May by the Town Councillors. All meetings start at 7.00pm, may be subject to change. are posted on the Town Council’s notice-board and on Wincanton Town Council website – www.wincantontowncouncil.co.uk Wincanton Local Information Centre is based in The Town Hall. We have a wide range of information on the local area. We sell tickets on behalf of Berry’s Coaches for their daily bus service to London. We sell advance tickets for the Royal Bath & West Agricultural Show, Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton International Air Day, Gillingham & Shaftesbury Agricultural Show and other local events.

The Area East Office offers a wide range of Council and related information and assistance. The Customer Enquiries Desk is staffed by Community Support Assistants who have a working knowledge of all of South Somerset District Council’s Services.
