Key aims for the year
•Greater independence
•Personal organisation
•To continue to be motivated and enthusiastic learners
How you can help your child.
• Daily • Reading with an adult, approximately 10 – 20
min (initial and date reading journals - write a comment if you wish)
• Practising spellings
• Weekly• Homework set termly. Tic Tac Toe grid. This
will often be linked to our IPC unit.
• Maths homework is to learn the times tables.
Daily Routines
• Children come into school via the Y3 cloakroom door - the doors are open at 8.50am.
• Unpack bags (put lunch boxes on the red trolley outside the classroom) and hang coats on named pegs.
• Read the instructions on the smartboard for early work.
Some similarities and differences in KS2.....
• Increased independence and responsibility • Homework• Weekly French lessons with Mrs Collison• Weekly P.E lessons including swimming and
tennis.(Covid allowing!)• Weekly visits to the KS2 library - Wednesdays• Morning play with Year 4 (10.30)• Lunch 12.00-1.00. (Eat lunch at 12.10)
Prebookable• Afternoon playtime will be phased out!• Share a cycle of IPC topics with Year 4• Your child can bring a healthy snack for playtime
A word on School Uniform...
• A red sweatshirt or cardigan
• A white or navy shirt or polo shirt
• Navy or black trousers, shorts (not P.E shorts), skirts or pinafores
• Black leather/leather-look shoes (no trainers)
• Red gingham dresses and closed toe sandals are permitted in the summer.
Computing in the School
• Children will be given greater responsibilities and activities linked with computing and their curriculum.
• In September, all children will be taking part in Safer Internet and Computing lessons.
• This will involve them reading and signing, with you, an ‘Acceptable Use’ policy. Until this has been understood, signed and returned the children will not be permitted to use technology in school.
