Potters rock on in their 1948 vehicle!Bennington, Vt. — Bennington

Potters new catalog carries manynew designs and product offerings aswell as the company’s tried and truefavorites – the classics.

The emphasis on the company andthe people of the company shown inthis year’s catalog marks a freshstart for the 58 year old company.The cover feature of the buildingshere in Bennington is designed toinvite visits. The group photo of theentire company underlines the funda-mental fact: these are the people whomake all the pottery in the catalogand they would love for two things tohappen. They would love to show offtheir work and how it is done, andthey would love to thank everyonepersonally for supporting anAmerican craft pottery and its pot-ters.

The company team, consisting of 3sections – the pottery with 12 full-time potters, the sales and marketinggroup of 6 full-time and 12 part-timemembers, and a general staff of 2full-time and 3 part-time people –have now found their stride and havetaken up what David Gil has setdown. Gil, founder, owner-operator,

designer, company architect, headof sales and marketing, all timeproblem solver, and one-time Alfred(NY) University student, took thecompany from a one man operation

up to 75 persons then back to 43over the 54 years of his span andleft big shoes to fill. The membersof his company have taken his brain-child – Potters Yard and the potteryworks – and his designs, hundreds ofthem – and his decisions, thousandsand thousands of them – and madethem their own, conserved, rear-ranged and changed them. It is athing to see and they are proud of it.It is worth the trip to Bennington.
