1. Don’t post any personal information online – like your address, email address or mobile number.

2. Think carefully before posting pictures or videos of yourself. Once you’ve put a picture of yourself online most people can see it and may be able to download it, it’s not just yours anymore.

3. Keep your privacy settings as high as possible.4. Never give out your passwords.5. Don’t befriend people you don’t know.6. Don’t meet up with people you’ve met online. Speak to your parent or carer about

people suggesting to do so.7. Remember that not everyone online is who they say they are.8. Think carefully about what you say before you post something online.9. Respect other people’s views, even if you don’t agree with someone else’s views it

doesn’t mean you need to be rude.10. If you see something online that makes you feel uncomfortable, unsafe or worried; leave the website, turn off your computer if you want to and tell a trusted adult immediately.

Knife CrimeIt can take just 30 seconds to fatally stab someone. Just 30 seconds to change many lives. Why let it change yours?

It is a misconception that knife crime is a gang issue.

While many young people don’t carry knives, you have a role to play in helping your child make the right choice on this subject. If there is one person your child will listen to, it’s you. They respect you more than you think.

It is all our responsibility to ensure young people understand they have choices, but also that choices have consequences.

How to have that conversation:The thought of seeing your child in trouble, hurt or even worse is a parent’s worst nightmare. So now is the right time to chat to your child about knife crime and the impact it can have.

We’ve put together some simple guidance to help you have that conversation, what to say, and explore routes for your child to avoid any potential future situations where a knife may be involved.

GangsA gang could simply be a group of friends that all like doing the same things. The word takes on a new meaning when a group of friends gets involved in criminal activity. Although it is not illegal to be a member of a gang, much of the activity that criminal street gangs get caught up in is. If caught committing an offence they could end up with a longer sentence just for being part of a gang.
