Sixth Sunday of Easter May 21, 2017

The people of Samaria come to worship the Lord and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is this same Spirit who leads us into the truth. In the body, Jesus was put to death; in the Spirit, He was

raised to life. We are called to this same glory.

Next Week’s Readings Acts 1:1-11 Ps 47:2-3, 6-9 Eph 1:17-23 Mt 28:16-20

Pipe Organ Console Replacement Campaign

St. Mary Catholic Church needs to raise $23,500 for the replacement of our worn-out 90-year-old pipe organ console. Members of the St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Council 1430 have already contributed $10,000; we need you, the parishioners, to donate the remaining $13,500. Time is of the essence to start and complete the project in August while the choir is on hiatus. Please send your tax-deductible donations to the Parish Office or drop them in the regular Sunday collection basket. Checks should be made out to St. Mary Catholic Church, with the notation “pipe organ” on the memo line, or cash can be placed in an envelope clearly marked “pipe organ.” Many thanks for your generous support for this worthy project!

He will close with this prayer from St. Thomas More: Grant me, O Lord, good digestion and also something to digest. Grant me a healthy body, and the necessary good humor to maintain it. Grant me a simple soul that knows to treasure all that is good and that doesn’t frighten easily at the sight of evil, but rather finds the means to put things back in their place. Give me a soul that knows not boredom, grumbling, sighs and laments, nor excess of stress, because of this obstructing thing called “I”. Grant me, O Lord, the grace to be able to take a joke and to discover in life a bit of joy and to be able to share it with others. Amen.

“He aquí la

Mary Shows Us How to Live in the Spirit “The Virgin Mary teaches us what it means to live in the Holy Spirit and what it means to accept the news of God in our lives. She conceived Jesus by the work of the Holy Spirit, and every Christian, each one of us, is called to accept the Word of God, to accept Jesus inside of us, and then to bring him to everyone. Mary invoked the Holy Spirit with the apostles in the upper room; we, too, every time that we come together in prayer, are sustained by the spiritual presence of the Mother of Jesus in order to receive the gift of the Spirit and to have the strength to witness to Jesus risen….May Mary help you to be attentive to what the Lord asks of you and to live and walk forever with the Holy Spirit!”

~ Pope Francis ~
