Welcome Desk
Click to start. After that, slide show will automatically proceed.
The most important thing we can do is make guests feel they
are truly welcome. If you do nothing else, do the following
three things:
and excited they are there, too!
#1Let your face show
YOU are happy to be at church
At least one time in your conversation,
So glad you could join us today,
Insert NAME of PERSON
Insert NAME of PERSON, have you had
a chance to visit a Sunday School class?
We have refreshments in the Fellowship Hall,
Insert NAME of PERSON. Could I
interest you in a cup of coffee or some juice?
#2
call the person by name.
#2 is very important!
Introduce them to at least one other member of our church.
#3
What else can you do for first time guests?Have the guest(s) sign our
guest book. (The information might also give you talking points.)
Make sure visitors have received one of our coffee mugs. (Be sure to also invite them to the Fellowship Hall to fill it up!)
Give them a red envelope. If they’ve already received a red envelope, help them find other information that might interest them.
More you can do for first time or repeat guests…
Encourage them to look over Bible studies and church activity offerings. Go over the Sunday School class descriptions. Either escort them to a class yourself or have another church member take them. Have someone walk them to Fellowship Hall and introduce them to other members.Tell them about coffee with the pastor, an opportunity to learn more about the Methodist church and FUMC.
Please encourage everyone-members and guests- to wear a
name tag!
Members, who have recently had a tag made, will be asking for them at
the information booth. Look for them in a box in the cabinet.
Something we can do for all Something we can do for all guests and members:guests and members:
Encourage them to sign up for our listserve (e-mail messages).
Please place the completed forms in Jon Weem’s or Sharon Pehl’s box.
If the office is closed, put the slip in the welcoming box in the workroom.
What time do we need people at the desk?
Fifteen minutes before and after every service, Sunday School classes, and special programs.
Miscellaneous things you can do at the desk…
Familiarize yourself with the literature at the desk.
Help keep the desk “tidy”.
Check to see if more red envelopes, mugs, name tags or other supplies are needed. Let the person in charge of the booth know what is needed.
Help recruit volunteers for the desk. We need to have at least two volunteers for every time slot, so one person can remain at the desk and one is available to show guests around.
Most importantly, if you see there is no one at the desk or just one person, please jump in and help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last, but not least….
Thank you!!!!!!!
You make a difference.
Bless you for volunteering.
