TRANSWESTERN’S GULF COAST AND MOUNTAIN REGIONSWellness Challenge Results
What lifestyle changes did you make (if any) to increase your physical activity during the six-week challenge? It is not so much about a lifestyle change, but my attitude has dramatically changed for the better. I no longer
feel like I have to work out. I get to work out, and it’s a great feeling.
What is your favorite exercise or physical activity hobby? My true passion is playing and coaching hockey, but it’s too hard to keep up with the young guys these days, so
I have found real enjoyment in mountain biking.
What is your favorite healthy snack?Peanut butter and bananas are my favorite snack but my true love is Twizzlers. My assistant Lesley Hile can attest
to watching me take down an entire package in one day!
What is the biggest result you’ve noticed over the last six weeks?I have such a high energy level and increased leg strength.
How do you stay motivated? The great feeling I get from waking up at 5 a.m. for a bike ride and coming across wild buffalo, turkeys, hawks,
eagles, and deer all while being a part of nature.
What is your secret talent?I’m still waiting to discover my secret talent.
What lifestyle changes did you make (if any) to increase your physical activity during the six-week challenge?I began to work out right after work. I noticed if I made a stopover at home, I would get into my comfy zone.
I started taking my gym bag with me every day. I also ate six small meals a day and a hearty breakfast to keep
me going.
What is your favorite exercise or physical activity hobby? My favorite physical activity is running or biking at the park while soaking in some fresh oxygen – nature’s best
gift.
What is your favorite healthy snack? One half avocado, squeezed lemon juice, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper – it’s filling and yummy.
What is the biggest result you’ve noticed over the last six weeks?I feel stronger and my muscles are toned. This six-week challenge helped me gear up for my next challenges at
the end of August and September - a bike ride and the 2010 Jailbreak run.
How do you stay motivated?I stay motivated by how energetic I feel. Exercising helps me de-stress.
What is your secret talent?Painting.

What is your favorite exercise or physical activity hobby? It varies but I put some extra money into a really nice mountain bike this summer, and I love it!
What is your favorite healthy snack?Fresh fruit.
What is the biggest result you’ve noticed over the last six weeks?Increased endurance as well as some weight loss.
How do you stay motivated? My husband and I are planning our second bike trip to Moab. To prepare, we’re working out together to be
ready for the trip.

What lifestyle changes did you make (if any) to increase your physical activity during the six-week challenge?I began wearing my pedometer from the time I got up in the morning until the time I went to sleep. I took the
stairs instead of the elevator, and I walked the park after work.
What is your favorite exercise or physical activity hobby? My favorite exercise is to walk, and I just recently discovered Zumba.
What is your favorite healthy snack? My favorite healthy snacks are cranberries, pecans, sunflower trail mix, apples, bananas and peanut butter.
What is the biggest result you’ve noticed over the last six weeks? The biggest result I have noticed is that I have more energy. I feel really good!
How do you stay motivated?I stay motivated thinking about the energy that I will have if I exercise and how much healthier I will be.
What is your secret talent?I really do not have a secret talent. I want to feel and look good and continue living without any health issues.
