Six Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League sides will battle it out for three Fifth Round places when the

Fourth Round matches take place in early February.

The tie of the round must surely be the visit of Bangor City to the Hollingsworth Group stadium to meet

host Airbus UK. The Citizens are the only side to bring home a clean sheet from the venue this season after

gaining a 1-0 win last month. The Wingmakers on the other hand will be looking for payback.

Carmarthen Town will welcome League current leaders The New Saints in what should be anotherentertaining tie pitching the Harrison/Darlington pairing against tactician and motivator Mark Aizlewood.

Park Avenue will host the meeting of Aberystwyth Town and Afan Lido with the Black and Greens hoping

to avenge the recent League defeat at Aberavon.

Bala Town and Cefn Druids will resume their Cymru Alliance rivalry of old as they meet at Maes Tegid

with the current Huws Gray CA leaders sure to test the hosts.

Newtown take on former WPL members Holywell Town who won at Llandrindod Wells in the last round

whilst the conquerors of holders Prestatyn Town, Aberdare Town will welcome fellow giant-killers in

Angleseys Bodedern Athletic. Bod took out Cymru Alliance side Buckley Town in extra time on Saturday.

Two other intriguing clashes finish off the draw as Welsh League high-flyers with WPL ambitions

Monmouth Town take on former WPL side Porthmadog and fellow old-boys Caersws - conquerors of gap

Connahs Quay take on Cambrian & Clydach Vale who reached the semi-finals of the Word Cup recently.

Saints amongst Europes bestDue tobeing one of Europes most prolific scorers this season, The New Saints are rubbing shoulders with the

likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona.Having scored an incredible 28 goals in only seven home games so far this season, The Saints are averaging

exactly three goals a game. Craig Harrisons prolific side are also yet to concede, adding to the wonderful start

that the reigning Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League champions have made. In total, TNS have scored 45

goals in 15 games this season.

Harrison admitted that having competition in the squad is really paying dividends, We have had twelve different

goal scorers this season which shows that we are reaping the benefits of having competition in every position.

We have tweaked our game slightly in terms of passing the ball and rotating players into different positions and

we have really worked hard on improving our set plays.

The list of the highest-scoring teams in Europe so far this season can be found on Page 4.

    CLUB NEWS

    ABERYSTWYTH TOWN www.atfc.org.uk...

AFAN LIDO FC www.afanlidofc.comHartland take's the Q&A test1. Chris thanks for your time, firstly congratulations on another home victory against Aberystwyth Town how doyou feel the game went for the team?A. Yeah, the boys performed brilliantly again Saturday and picked up another very important three points. Aftergoing 0-1 down it would of been easy to fold but our spirit at the moment is terrific and we feel we can get points

against any team in the league.2. There were a few changes in the side that beat Connahs Quay last week with another change of goalkeeperdue to injuries with Gareth Couch coming in do you think that the change in personnel is giving freshness and amuch needed change in the team?A. No I dont think we needed a change of personnel as most of the team was the same we have a strong squadand I just think the win at Prestayn a few weeks back as given every player confidence and this has shown in ourlast 4 results.

    3. The team went 1-0 down through a Chris Venables goal on 41minutes but goals from Ian Hillier and a first forloan signing Alex Chrysanthou you must have been happy for both your team mates?A. Yes, never easy to come from behind but was made up for Ian Hillier when he scored his first of the season, hedeserved it he works so hard in training and has a attitude that we all admire so he deserved and yea we were allvery happy for him, and our new loan signing impressed with his presence and hold up play and got a brilliantwinner so as far as debuts goes that was up there for him, Im looking forward to linking up with him andcontinue this run of wins we are on.4. Both you and Mark Crutch were both out suspended because you both picked up five yellow cards in previousgames. It must have been difficult to not be playing in the fixture to which the team got such a positive result. Doyou feel your discipline has let you down?A. Mark Crutch is our centre half so he is always going pick up bookings, myself I do tend to get booked for silly

things now and again but some harsh also, I dont think its lack of discipline during the game, youre not lookingahead youre playing that very moment but we are both pleased as the boys got another win so it didn t cost us

and halt our momentum.5. Paul Evans and his backroom team seem to be getting the team bonding well even though at the start resultswerent going well. Do you feel like you have become a better player this season under Paul Evans?A. The Gaffer and his backroom staff have been great this season when we were down there with nothing goingour way the staff were still always positive and reassuring us that we really are not far away, that belief has been

passed over and the results are now coming our way.6. You have been at Lido for a few years now, what is your greatest moment so far playing for the club?A. Yes from a personal level the two goals and the win against Connahs Quay last season was a good day andshowed everyone just what Im about, also my goal of the month was very nice to achieve but that was anotherimportant point that day but with our position at the time the 2 goals away to Prestatyn this term got us on our

very important run we are on atm.7. You are away to Airbus UK on 14th December do you feel there is a result there for Lido if you continue in the

form that the team is in?A. Yes I do. We all know Airbus possess great quality and especially at home there a great side but with currentconfidence and precision we have we fancy we can go anywhere and pick up points we have to work as hard aswe have done before we start thinking about big away points.8. You won the October Goal of the Month award, after seeing the strike on TV any player at the highest levelwould of been proud of such a strike how did you feel when it flew into the net?A. Its always nice to get individual accolades and especially for something like goal of the month it is a greatfeeling at the moment because before this I was hitting bar post etc but this got me off and running and havecontinued my scoring run which is massively important to me.9. Who would you say out of the club (not just your team mates) is the funniest and why? Brainiest and why also

who would you say werent the brightest and why?A. To be fair all the boys have got some good banter so it s difficult to pick one out possibly Doug the physio

would be up there never short of a one liner always positive and full of jokes, the brainiest would have to go toScotty McCoubrey looks like a bright fella and is quite switched on with the questions the gamesshow The Chase

which is thrown at us on our trips to away games, the accolade of least intelligent is a coin toss between GarynPreen and Alex Gammond not much general knowledge coming from them two.10. As a day job when youre not involved with your club duties you are a P.E teacher - the kids at the school

must watch Sgorio each week and give you some stick in the classroom?A. Yes I have a very good rewarding job and the pupils are fully aware of my football quality but every Monday

morning after a weekend game they are always there waiting to rub it in if there was a defeat and like to take themick of my interviews on Sgorio but all in good will and is fun and they keep me on my toes

    11. Since you have been a footballer you must of met some great and inspiring people along the way, are thereany people you would like to say thank you too who have helped you develop over the years ?A. Of course any route players take there are always people who have helped you on your way, I have met a lot

of great people but special thanks have to go to Glyn Jones and Roger Skyrme who spotted me and pushed me onmy way through the Newport County academy adding to my knowledge of the game. Great people but as I sayany manager and backroom staff I have worked with have all had their own say and input on my game in apositive manner.

    BANGOR CITY.

CARMARTHEN TOWN www.carmarthentownafc.com"At this stage of the season we are in third place on the Welsh Premier League table, with a game in hand; wehave reached the final of the League Cup; and are now through to play The New Saints in the fourth round of theFAW Cup. I don't think we could really be achieving much more," said a confident Mark Aizlewood following hisside's 2-1 cup victory against Port Talbot Town.Reflecting on the win Aizlewood said: "These cup games are all about getting through to the next round: so jobdone. In actual fact it was more than that as I thought the team were excellent and our performance first-class aswe started to look dangerous again. In the last game [a 2-0 home defeat to Newtown] we just didn't look likescoring but now, against Port Talbot, we had at least five good chances.""If you look at the game carefully visiting goalkeeper Stephen Hall has made four excellent saves: and they wereexcellent. We went and missed a penalty and in our goal Steven Cann had only one shot to save. So, all in all, Ithought we gave a good solid performance and I never had any doubt that we were going to get through to thenext round."The Carmarthen Town manager then went on to praise his defence. "We made a slight change to what we weretrying to achieve in defence by playing the ball out from the back. So when we do squeeze up and play a narrow

back four we look a lot more solid. This is because players are then in the right position to defend and that issomething we'll look to take forward.""However, in this match there were some big performances. Kyle Bassett was back to his best after appearing alittle jaded. Christian Doidge was a handful with his runs while Jordan Follows is a very clever player. He hasquick feet and an equally quick brain and I thought that his all round game was excellent: and he scored two goals

as well."Looking to the League match at Port Talbot next Saturday, Aizlewood revealed that both Liam McCreesh and

Luke Cummings would be suspended for the game for having accumulated five yellow cards each. "We also havesome injury worries with Chris Thomas highly unlikely to play due to a calf problem. We will be down to the bare

    bones."

Rhyl FC www.rhylfc.co.ukHighly rated goalkeeper Alex Ramsay has signed a three-year deal with

    the Lilywhites.

The 20 year old stopper, originally brought in on loan from TNS for the

2012 season, was a virtual ever present last term and an integral part of

the 'Invincibles' side which went through the season unbeaten. Ramsay

recorded 13 clean sheets from 30 league matches in that title winningrun.

The Mid-Wales born keeper revealed he was anxious to get the deal

done at the start of the season but contractual issues with his former club

meant he had to wait until now to put pen to paper.

THE LAST WORD from Gwyn Derfel

I mentioned in last weeks article that Id asked the club Chairmen to think about agreeing some sort of

policy or strategy which would encourage the use of local /Welsh players in our National League.

The PFA in England is so worried about the lack of game-time afforded to young English players and

the subsequent knock-on effect that has on the national side - that they have written to UEFA requestingthat a minimum of 3 eligible players should be in every starting eleven.

Im a strong believer that our Corbett Sports WPL clubs should have a strong connection with their

communities but dont believe that introducing such a quota here in Wales would make a huge

difference in the short term. The simple reason for this is that our clubs generally do have a healthy

quota of Welsh players or lads who have come through the academy system. Long may this continue and

increase and if setting specific targets in stone helps promote this concept then I for one am all in

    favour of it.

Look at Prestatyn last season for example. Their historic Welsh Cup win was embraced and enjoyed by

club and community alike. Im sure that it meant a lot to all of those involved because the vast majority

of players came from the local area sprinkled of course with a few talented imports. Bangor City have

this season blooded a number of Gwynedd boys and it seems to be very well received by the BookPeople faithful.

I honestly believe that if we as a League make a bold statement and have the conviction to implement a

criteria which further supports the development of academy and young Welsh players more fans will

become engaged with the WPL and more players from our League will ultimately receive international

recognition. Please contact me with your views regarding this issue. Thank you.

Y GAIR OLAF gan Gwyn Derfel

Fe soniais yn fy erthygl yr wythnos ddiwethaf fy mod wedi gofyn i Gadeiryddion ein clybiau i ystyriedcynllun fydd yn hyrwyddor egwyddor o ddefnyddio chwaraewyr lleol / cymwys i gynrychioli Cymru.

Maer PFA yn Lloegr yn poeni gymaint am y diffyg cyfleoedd sydd ar gael iw chwaraewr nhw yn y

Barclays nes eu bod wedi gofyn i UEFA gyflwyno rheol fyddain golygu bod yn rhaid i dri chwaraewr

cymwys gael eu cynnwys ar ddechrau pob gm.

Rwyn gredwr cryf y dylai ein clybiau fod yn rhan allweddol ou cymunedau. Er hynny dwi ddim yn

credu y byddai cyflwyno rheol fel hyn yn cael gymaint o effaith hynnyn y byrdymor gan bod

mwyafrif llethol ein clybiau yn chwaraer chwaraewyr cymwys yman barod. Serch hynny dwi yn

credu y byddai gwneud datganiad or math yma yn llesol ac yn dangos ein bwriad yn glir fel Cynghrair

    Cenedlaethol.

Edrychwch ar Brestatyn y tymor diwethaf pan enillon nhw Gwpan Cymru am y tro cyntaf yn eu hanes.

Fel Celtic gynt or 60au roedd mwyafrif llethol eu carfan yn dod o fewn tafliad carreg ir dref acrwyn siwr bod yr elfen ychwanegol yma o berthyn a chymuned wedi cyfoethogir profiad o lwyddo

    ymhellach.

Mae Bangor wedi chwarae mwy o chwaraewyr o ardal Gwynedd y tymor hwn ac er dechrau anghyson

ir tymor, maer torfeydd wedi bod yn gyson o ffyddlon yn y Book People. Ai cyd-ddigwyddiad yw

    hyn? Dywedwch chi.

Rwyf yn wirioneddol gredu y byddai godod canllawiau pendant i hyrwyddor cyfleoedd i ddatblygu

chwaraewyr academi a hogiau syn gymwys i wisgor crys coch cenedlaethol, yn gam cadarn a chlir i

Uwch Gynghrair Cymru-Corbett Sports. Byddain cryfhaur cysylltiad rhwng y clybiau ar cefnogwyr

ymhellach a dwin wirioneddol gredu y byddain gallu agor y drws i fwy o gydnabyddiaeth ryngwladol

i fwy o chwaraewyr ein Cynghrair. Cytuno neu beidio? Gadewch i mi wybod. Diolchuip.
