Portland

Portland has a unique character, and you’ll see this with a tour into historical neighborhoods with their varied architectural styles (there’s even a castle) and into newer areas, such as the Pearl district. You’ll also see Portland’s cultural and university district, Old Town, and China Town. Along the way we’ll point out some local hang-outs, such as theater pubs, and pass through downtown and uptown shopping areas, and see other key attractions in Washington Park.

Mount Hood

Mt. Hood is a must-see destination for travelers from all over the world. It’s a local favorite for snow-boarding and ski-ing in the winter, and with it’s many meadows and neighboring lake areas, it’s a great place to explore the outdoors in summer. First stop is Timberline Lodge. Considered an architectural wonder when it was built in the late 1930’s, it was declared a National Historic Land-mark in 1977.

Mount Saint Helens

View this active volcano up close and go inside the visi-tor center to discover the art and science of monitoring an active volcano and predicting eruptions through various displays. The Johnston Ridge Observatory sits on a bluff just 5-1/2 miles from the crater at an elevation of 4,314'/1,327m and offers grand views of Mount St. Helens and much of the 1980 blast zone. This viewpoint is the closest you can get to the mountain by car or bus.

Before and AfterThe eruption in 1980 changed the lives of thousands and transformed millions of acres of pristine forest into a virtual wasteland.

Tour takes approximately eight hours. Tour available from mid-May through October. See Rates for the cost of this tour.

Before and AfterSnow, ice, and several entire glaciers on the volcano melted, forming a series of volcanic mudslides that buried rivers as it spread fifty miles to the south.

Oregon Coast

This is one of the most spectacular coastlines in the world, and it’s just an hour and a half from Portland. At Cannon Beach you’ll find lots of quaint little shops and eateries and, of course, the famous Hay-stack Rock. Farther down the coast we’ll have our lunch at Cape Meares Lighthouse (we pay). After lunch we’ll continue down the coast capturing all the magnificent views and make lots of stops for pictures. Finally, in Pacific City you can climb a sand dune or watch the surfers roll in with the tide.

Wine Tours

Oregon is known worldwide for its premium wines. Visit the vine-yards in one of two distinct growing regions. The North Willamette region features many of the award-winning wineries that helped make Oregon a destina-tion for the wine connoisseur. The Columbia River Gorge/Valley region features wines from Oregon and Washington. We’ll stop at some of the tasting rooms, so you can expe-rience the romance of the Oregon grape for yourself.

Tour takes approximately five hours. Tour available year-round. See Rates for the cost of this tour.

Maryhill Winery and Columbia River Gorge/ValleyFrom Hood River to Goldendale, the area growers produce many varietals that are difficult to grow in other regions. Look for wines such as, Syrah and San-giovese, as well Zinfandel, Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec.
