My café, this time uses Indian style. I decided to transform my café based on Indian style as the Indian culture is something a rare in my country, especially in my hometown of Surabaya. Besides, I’m really in my ambition to introduce Indian culture to surabayanese people.

Therefore, I put the Indian dishes in my café menu, such as prata bread, Indian curries, saag paneer, and many more.. but in Indian, curry is not a dish but a class of dishes. Curries in Indian is different with curries in many place.. because they sell the curry powder only available at their supermarket. As well as Indian beverages like, DeLhi, Badam milk, Gulab ka sharbat, and many more. “Prata bread” is my best menu to be offered to customers. For those who do not like to enjoy the Indian menu, they still can order the American dishes. I provide them with salmon sandwich, king burger, friendfries, and many more. To meet the customers taste, I employ an Indian chef, while for my American dishes I employ a local chef with overseas cooking certificate.

For the design and interior of my café, I copy the room design of Indian traditional houses. I also decorate my café with the original home accessories and painting directly ordered from India.

For the customers enjoyment, I devide the room into two. Smoking open area and non smoking air conditioner room.

Kaapi presents a unique atmosphere of a café house in down town. Surabaya is the second busiest city of Indonesia with growing industry. Lots of Surabaya residences have been busied with works and targeting business. Therefore, the working people tand to get stressed and experience other behavioural disturbances.

Based on the above situation, I believe my café will find the way to reach a good progress as a new café house in Surabaya.

SURABAYA : The best Location I choose Surabaya as the perfect launch market

due to the several following factors : - the rapid growth population of local

residences - The highly number of visiting students - Down town area of our location - Low costs of promotion - Various yearly celebration

Page 14: West Coast University Kaapi Cafe

Kaapi café’s regular suctomers is consisted of :

Indian visitors - Indian permanent residences - Overseas tourists - Working people - Local families - College students - Local travelers - Housewives

Page 15: West Coast University Kaapi Cafe

The above groups of customers segments are concluded as potential regular customers that can maintain the growing business of café house in Surabaya. For example : Indian visitors as well as Indian permanent residences have been in Surabaya for years. Since the visit Indonesian program large numbers of overseas tourist like to come to Surabaya either to visit or to make same investment.

Other groups of working people and local families are quite strong markets.

The business people need to release their working burder while local families like to spend the time together during weekends.

Surabaya has many good qualified universities, the graduates of the local universities may easily find jobs in both local industries and out of islands ones. That’s why the growing students statistics, local and regional, is progessing year by year.

Also, the local travelers who accidently pass though Surabaya may try the uniqueness of the Indian concepts café as a memorable place to tell to their families, friends, and collegaes.

Finally, Surabaya residences are included from mid level to up level families. Generally the housewives of the family have no certain jobs. Once again, this groups of market segment is profitable as long as the Indian café meet their interests.
