West Nyack Free Library Winter 2019
Greetings from your new Library Director!
It is a privilege to begin the next chapter of my
professional life here in the West Nyack Free
Library.
Raised in New York City, I relocated with my family
to Rochester, New York over twenty years ago.
There I worked at the Pittsford Community Library,
rising from Reference Librarian to Assistant Director
and then to Library Director in 2015.
Through the years, my heart remained in New York,
and I am so happy to be in Rockland County - close
to family, old friends and thin crust pizza.
I look forward to sharing the joys of reading with all
of you. Please stop by to say hello any time.
Rhonda Rossman, Director
Help us celebrate the West Nyack Free Library’s
60th anniversary! Keep a look out for upcoming
events that will be outlined in our next newsletter,
website and e-newsletters.
Those of us who enjoy being in the library love a
good story. Holiday dinners with family often
become nostalgic as we exchange memories of
family members and their life adventures. What
better story than one that is personal to your
family? On our website, we have databases such
as Ancestry, Family Search and Heritage Quest
that search birth and death records, census,
marriage and military histories as well as
historical newspapers dating back to the late
1800’s. You can find fascinating information
about families coming to Ellis Island, various
spellings of family names, places of birth and
military service years. One clue leads to the next
in finding the details of our own unique stories.
Happy Holidays!
Dina Rosco, Head of Circulation

Weather conditions may require a delayed opening or an unscheduled closing of the library. Safety is our primary consideration. If the Clarkstown Central School District has a snow closing *or* delay the library has an automatic one hour delay and will try to open at 10:30am. Further delays or decisions to close early are made on a case by case basis. All delays and early closings are listed on the library’s website, cancellations.com, and our phone message system. Library programs may be cancelled depending on the circumstances and it is best to call the library to confirm if poor weather is predicted.
