SUNDAY BREAKFAST RUN
25 June 2017
Only six members braved the weather and turned up
at Pinehaven Garage for a run and to support the West
Rand Awareness Ride Against Farm Murders.
We extended a special welcome to our President who
arrived on his finally repaired Kawa ZX14. His smile told it all…. Fin had arrived in her biker gear and was
gladly going pillion on Daniel’s bike. Poor Rob was
left alone in the Cage.
After some members stomachs were growling some-
what it was a unanimous decision to take a short time
out and shoot off the Amanzingwe Lodge for a quick
breakfast. Along Satellite road Kurt’s sentimental
MV Dragster threw in the towel and died a quick
death. Kurt encouraged her with much TLC
and flicking of control switches and knobs
and she was resuscitated to continue the ride. Kurt led the group and had no more sentimen-
tal outbursts from her electronics again.
It was like in 2 ticks and we were there, paid,
plated up and seated outside under the clear
warming up winter sun. Their breakfast feast
is still the best value for money in the area.
After breakfast had settled, Daniel led the
pack to go and rejoin at the Castle Inn along
the N14 so to continue with the Awareness Ride Against Farm Murders Event.

SUNDAY BREAKFAST RUN
25 June 2017 [Continued from Page 1]
On arriving at the Castle Inn, Daniel offered his apologies
that he had to leave the group due to him being invited to a Sunday’s Lunch date with his daughter, Deidre.
Kurt immediate mission was to find the ticket sales and to source some tickets so as to get some liquid beverages to
quench the throat.
There were many biker clubs represented at the event. The
music was great the beers cold and food was warm. The
main thrust of the event being the handing out of flyers at the
intersection at CradleStone then followed by a mass ride to the Castle Inn.
The President of Megaforce West Rand, JJ thanked the Ulys-ses members for supporting the event and stated it was
greatly appreciated.
Check the photo out on the left - Jackie Shrunk and Fin & Rob got taller - wonder
what they were drinking? Note our Vice, Kurt, busy organising the important stuff.
All reported home safe via UlyChat - Great day had by all - in fact and I quote what
Fin had to say “Home Safe, thanks to all for a lovely day, best in ages.”

SATERDAY BREAKFAST RUN
24 June 2017
A Whatsapp message on UlyChat went
out from our President, Daniel on Friday afternoon at 17h33.
Daniel had just collected his Kawa ZX14 from the its service/repair of the clutch
after standing for many weeks waiting for
crucial parts to be imported. Daniel could-n’t wait for the Sunday run and asked who
could make a quick Saturday breakfast
run.
Bryn and Allan joined Daniel at 09h00 at
the Pinehaven Sasol Garage on Saturday morning. Man, but was that ZX14 clean, polished, shin-
ning and rearing to ride. Daniel suggested a Breakfast close by
so The Bru was chosen.
Daniel took the led with Allan
Sweeping and took a nice quite
ride to The Bru.
Arrived and found the place
fairly well supported by bikers
on a Saturday morning. Found a parking spot and decided to be
seated outside on the open ve-
randa. The chairs were very cold
and Daniel soon sourced seat cushions to hide the cold.
We started with Cappuccinos, the Bru Breakfast ending with
Cappuccinos.
The waiter had met Daniel’s request that the plates will be warm to hot when served.
These so-called adhoc called outings many times over end up being very pleasant and enjoyed by
all. Give the calls in future some serious consideration and join in for the experience.
All reported home safe. Thanks Daniel for a great spur of the moment outing and ride.
This is usually a very lekker Jol to attend.
Biker Club members
come from East Rand, Joburg, Potch Klerks-
dorp, Vaal etc.
Good Music, Cold
Beers and Hot Food.

Biking Tips & Hints
BIKE TYRES INFLATED WITH AIR vs PURE NITROGEN
1. Did you know that Air consists of 78% nitrogen & under 21% oxygen, and the rest is made up of water vapour, CO2 and small
concentrations of noble gases such as neon and argon.
2. Nitrogen particles are slightly larger and are less likely to migrate through tire rubber than is oxygen, so it means that your tire
pressures should remain more stable over the long term. Nitrogen doesn't hold any water content.
3. Tyres filled with nitrogen instead of air exhibit less pressure change with temperature swings. This means more consistent in-
flation pressures during a fast ride and during the tyres heating up from cold.
4. With nitrogen there will be less moisture inside your tires, meaning less corrosion on your steel wheels and spoke fittings.
6. With nitrogen you will not be feel any difference to the ride or handling or braking of the bike.
7. Air is supplied for free but initial charge for nitrogen is levied and afterwards normally free to top up at the same supplier.
6. Most riders will stick with normal air in their tyres as it is much more convenient to check and top up.
7. TIP: If making use of air then when pumping up a tyre always briefly depress the tyre pressure gauge and vent some air onto a
thumbnail. If the thumbnail gets wet, there's water in the line. Water in the ait line is very bad for the tyres and can speed up
ageing process from the inside. If water is detected then go elsewhere.
Regular naps prevent old age,
especially if you take them
while riding.
