Work Readiness

Work readiness involves students having what employers call the right attitude. At the most fundamental level this means the student has:

a positive attitude to appropriate personal presentation, being reliable and punctual and demonstrate a willingness to learn.

realistic expectations of the work that an entry-level employee will be able to undertake.

the willingness to be supervised, follow instructions and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed

the capacity to function and communicate

completed preparatory activities that include OHS awareness and practices, (SAT) acceptable behaviour and student conduct in the workplace (including child protection issues)

Industry Requirements

Each Industry has a variety of work related requirements. These range from:

drug screening to be completed prior to entry to the workplace.

drug and alcohol testing for students in the workplace. These can be done on a random basis.

Safety Awareness Training certification Liquor licenses Police checks Working with Children checks Worksite inductions

Accreditation Students will be allocated unit equivalents according to the

number of hours in the workplace.

Less than 55 hours = 0 unit equivalents 55 -- 109 hours = 1 unit equivalent

110 – 164 hours = 2 unit equivalents 165 – 219 hours = 3 unit equivalents

220 + hours = 4 unit equivalents.
