  • 3Happy New Year! We first wanted to thank you for all the support at this years Snowflake Castle. Through the 7 days and 13 shifts more than 2600 children built wooden toys and visited with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Additionally, this project raised more than $15,000.00 for the Westerville Senior Association and City of Westerville.

Welcome new Senior Association board member Clem Willis. You may have seen Clem shooting pool or shooting images with his camera. Were excited to have him join the team. Clem is taking Jack Shinnocks seat. Jack is leaving the board after 9 years of service and leadership.

Please dont forget that fitness classes are no longer drop-in classes. Beginning in March, youll notice weve made some adjustments to the length of registration for each class to meet our members needs. In January you may turn in any unused punches on your yellow fitness punch card.

Mary will be taking a leave of absence beginning in February to help Uncle Sam collect taxes. In the mean time, the team will be taking over kitchen duties. Chelsea will be on maternity leave for 12 weeks beginning when Teagan arrives.

The Senior Center Garage Sale will be held April 28 & 29. Think of us when youre spring cleaning. Well begin accepting donations March 1.

Transportation is provided to members residing in the corporate city limits of Westerville for programs at the Senior Center, the Community Center (as available), medical appointments within the Westerville School District, trips to other destinations which are planned by the Senior Center Staff, and shopping trips to grocery stores. Even though we make every effort to provide prompt transportation services, delays of up to one-half hour may occur because of the multiple services we provide and the extensive area we travel.

As the weather starts turning colder, please remember that if the Westerville City Schools close that all of the Centers programs are also closed. You may also call the hotline (found on the cover) to discover whether or not programs are cancelled. New this year, however, is that transportation to essential services (doctor appointments and the grocery store) will be decided by Center staff. If youre scheduled during school closures, expect a call from Center staff confirming your transportation.
