Destination FashionWith the addition of Billy Reid, Calypso St. Barth, Free People and Lululemon Athletica, Westside Provisions District comes of age as a fashion destination
We’re excited to announce that several really good fashion
merchants will be opening their doors at WSPD in the coming months. This spring and summer, Billy Reid, Calypso St. Barth, Free People and Lululemon Athletica join Anthropologie, G. Gil-bert, Sid Mashburn and Ann Mashburn to provide exciting new fashion choices on Atlanta’s Westside. “WSPD is home
to Atlanta’s trailblazers, explorers, pioneers, groundbreakers, the avant-garde, and the believers,” says pho-tographer Sarah Dorio, “Their retail and dining rivals anywhere else in the country.” Read more about WSPD’s emergence as a fashion destination, and check out what our fashion mer-chants are featuring this spring in our feature story on pages 4-5.

The Sea In SpringNautical-inspired apparel and accessories are all the rage this spring in kidswear
Pinafores and sailor suits have been hallmarks
of kid’s fashion since the Victorian era; Navy drill dresses for girls and smart sailor suits for boys never
go out of style. This spring, Seed Factory owner Rachel Baba says the nautical look is all the rage once again. For girls, Rachel recommends pairing a navy-striped cotton Petit Bateau dress with adorable slippers from Livie & Luca. For boys, she gives the nautical look a nod with this Wonderboy mod circle short-sleeve paired with sturdy cotton Petit Bateau shorts in navy. In addition to apparel, Seed Factory also offers books, toys, games, and a full line of infant gear. Visit them online at seedfactoryatlanta.com.
Jonathan Adler’s grand opening celebration
was only one year ago, but already Westside Provisions District can hardly remember life without this quirky, modern high-style shop. Jonathan Adler’s career may have begun at the potter’s wheel, but today Adler is a full-fledged designer and author with three books and several high-profile collaborations, including Barbie and LACOSTE, to his name. The Jonathan Adler aesthetic is all about promoting positivity. His designs, such as this Union Jack bearskin rug, infuse classic décor with a delightful sense of fun and whimsy. And if you really want a laugh, follow their Facebook page, where their bevy of studio dogs make frequent, unwitting appearances. For more info, visit jonathanadler.com.
Jonathan Adler: Whimsy & WonderCelebrating its first Atlanta anniversary this Spring, the Adler aesthetic has already won over Westside Provisions District

YEAH! GreenYou already know YEAH! BURGER has the best burger options on the Westside. Here are a few more reasons to love them
In this farm-to-table day and age, it
almost goes without saying that WSPD’s YEAH! BURGER
uses only the finest organic and all-natural ingredients; but did you also know that they strive to be as carbon-neutral as possible?
To achieve this, they use pasture-raised, grass-fed meats and local ingredients, and they also offset their energy and natural gas usage with local forest carbon sequestration credits. YEAH! BURGER restaurants are stocked with ENERGY STAR appliances, tankless water heaters, energy-efficient LED lights, water-efficient toilets, and tinted windows—all designed to shrink their carbon footprint. Find out more at yeahburger.com.
Dragonfly: Bubbly & BlowoutDrink, eat and style: It’s what Westside Provisions District is all about

There are 20 of these ex-clusive appointments available, and the cost is $10 per person if you book with a guest who is new to Dragonfly.

For years now, WSPD has been a hub for high-style décor in Atlanta. Then, in 2010,
when Anthropologie joined Westside pioneers G. Gilbert, Sid Mashburn, and Ann Mashburn, WSPD began to emerge as an important fashion destination as well. Now, with the addition of Free People, Calypso St. Barth, Billy Reid and Lululemon Athletica, WSPD solidifies its hold on haute culture.
Each of our new clothiers brings their own special vibe to the district. Complementing carefully curated women’s clothiers G. Gilbert and Ann Mashburn, Free People supplies a confident, youthful energy, while Calypso St. Barth treats us to breezy, Caribbean-inspired textiles in rich colors. On the men’s side, Billy Reid lends an all-American, bourbon-infused vibe to menswear that goes hand-in-hand with Sid Mashburn’s laid-back, cuffed blue jean aesthetic. Meanwhile, Lululemon will offer technical yoga and athletic wear for both men and women. With WSPD’s generous depth and breadth of fashion options, intown Atlanta shoppers may never need to go to the mall again! Here’s just a taste of what our fashion merchants are bringing to the table in 2012.

This spring, Ann recommends short, sassy dresses
like the Wiltshire Liberty shirtdress, pictured below with classic wedge espadrilles. Sid recommends pairing perennial favorites like Sid Mashburn spread collar dress shirts with Levi’s 501 jeans and day-glo Tretorn Nylite sneakers. In the past year, both Sid and Ann have launched online stores, so now you can enjoy Mashburn style, even if you can’t make it to the shop in person.

Life was chugging merrily along for Betty and Billy Hulse, until Billy suffered a spinal cord
injury. While he was recuperating at the Shepherd Spinal Center, his wife Betty whipped up a batch of her mother-in-law’s famous “Cobbie’s Sauce” recipe to give to Billy’s nurses and doctors. The gift, which she’d been making for years, was so well-received that Betty began to wonder if she might be able to turn an old family recipe into a way to give back to the staff at Shepherd Center, which had helped Billy regain his health and independence.
Betty sought the advice of WSPD restaurateur Anne Quatrano, who agreed the sauce was delicious on anything from the heartiest of roasted meats to the most delicate seafood dishes. Packaged in a flask, you can now find Cobbie’s Sauce at Star Provisions and other local specialty markets. It will soon also be available in select Whole Foods and Dean & Deluca locations. Proceeds benefit the Shepherd Center. Learn more at cobbiessauce.com.

Pop-Up MadnessMan-about-town George Krauth dishes on the fashions, flavors, designs, and décor he discovers as he travels the globe tracking trends in his capacity as Creative Manager for Jamestown Properties.
Well-dressed Southern gentlemen have always been fashionable, but Southern men’s
fashion isn’t all straw boaters and seersucker suits anymore. Modern Southern fashion, as exemplified by clothiers like Billy Reid, Peter Nappi, Ledbury, and Sid Mashburn, has broken the bounds of regionalism and become part of a larger movement of vintage American style that is reflected in both fashion and home décor.
Like good bourbon or vinyl records, Southern men’s fashion never quite goes out of style. Inspired by the relaxed pace of the South, modern Southern fashion has a cavalier attitude about rules. Southern men mix plaids. They roll the cuffs of their jeans (after all, one never knows when the urge to fish will strike), and they wear boots to formal affairs. For great tips on dressing, drinking, and even decorating like a proper Southern gentleman, check out Bearings Guide or Garden & Gun. I know I’ve had my eye on a pair of Bartolomeo boots by Peter Nappi ever since they showcased at Westside Provision District’s “Tinsel and Twine” pop-up shopping event this past Christmas.
