FROM A NEW EXECUTIVE PEN…… Hi, my name is Ben McInnes. At this year’s AGM I was elected as one of your Executive Committee members. I’m a 35 year old husband and father of two. I am born and breed in Whangarei, attending Raumanga Primary, Whangarei Intermediate and Whangarei Boys High School. My background is management in the retail sector. I managed Kathmandu for 7 years, Operations Manager for Kmart Whangarei for 2 years and currently Business Manager for Briscoes Group Whangarei and Kerikeri. In my free time I am a referee for Football which I took up 5 years ago and I am currently NZ level 4 which allows you to then become a FIFA referee. I took up refereeing to give something back to the sport that I played since I was 5. I now would like to continue to give something back to a community in a town that helped to shape me as a person. My current role requires me to meet and maintain business requirements as well as looking to improve or build my own processes. It also includes overseeing all areas of the business, with a focus on Health and Safety, Loss Prevention, Recruitment, Training, Compliance and Finance. I am also currently Board Chair of Morningside Primary of which I am now entering my second term of 3 years. My work and sporting background has given me skills in People management, Time management, working under pressure and to targets. These skills are valuable to running any successful entity. I believe that these skills will add and benefit the other executive committee members to continue to make Whangarei RSA successful, and benefiting all of our members current and to come. I work hard to succeed in everything I do and because of this I enter into everything with a determination to make a difference and ensure that previous hard work isn’t lost but built on with the continued changing economy and lifestyle. Ben McInnes Executive Committee
Answers to queries from AGM A Member asked what the rent /lease for Hannah St. property was. Firstly this was entered incorrectly. It should have been shown as Land lease Northland Regional Council. We paid the land lease for 14-16 Hannah St., 6monthly in advance ($1,666.66 per month = $9,999.96). When we purchased the property from NRC ($290,000.00) it was part way through the rental period, so we were owed a credit of $2,825.96, for the outstanding period. The figure of $7,174.00 was the difference. With reference to the downturn in income, your committee is looking at various ways to make the club work more for you the members. The only way to increase income is to get more people in using the facilities we have to offer. Kevin Peachey President
