Back pain can take several forms ranging from dull ache to sharp shooting pain. Lower

back pain can be caused by many things like injury, sprain, obesity, sedentary lifestyle,

medical conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia and many other reasons. If you have been

feeling consistent lower back pain from a few days, you should get it checked as soon as

possible. In most cases, the pain can subside within a few days if you are able to identify

what is causing the problem and take steps to rectify it.

The good news is that most people can get rid of their back problem with simple steps or

exercises. Rarely is surgery needed, which is the last option if all other steps fail. The

first step in treating this problem is to identify the main cause behind it. For example, if

being overweight is causing the problem then you have to take steps to reduce your

weight if you want to get rid of the back problem permanently. Similarly, if you are

experiencing the problem because of sitting for long hours on chair because your work

requires you to do so, then you may have to do some back exercises as well as get into

the habit of getting up periodically from your chair and take a stroll or do some

stretching.

Maybe you are getting back pain because of improper sleeping posture. Sometimes

doctors suggest patients to sleep on the sides with their knees pulled up slightly if people

are experiencing lower back pain problem. If your job requires you to stand for long

periods of time, then again you have to pay attention to your posture. Keep your head up

and stomach pulled in.

Many people don't keep proper posture while sitting or standing. It is not easy to get into

the right posture immediately if you have been neglecting its importance from many

years. Thankfully, there are exercises to improve posture. If you do them your posture

might improve again permanently.

For some people, the back problem may be due to lifting heavy weights. When you are

lifting something heavy you have to do it properly. Do not bend over from the waist.

Instead, bend your knees and squat, pulling in your stomach muscles. Also keep the

object you are lifting close to your body. Do not twist your body while lifting. These are

some of the things you have to keep in mind while lifting heavy objects so that you can

avoid back problems.
