• Let participants know about your green initiative

• Use pre-event slides, note on packet, or invite someone to open with a 5-minute announcement (or YOU can do it!)

• You don’t have to do EVERYTHING, but do SOMETHING!

First Steps…1. Identify what you need for your

you might need.

3. Determine your budget for

marketing, catering, resources.

4. Now, THINK GREEN!

Second Steps…1. Communicate your green initiative to

other responsible parties. 2. What are my sources of waste?3. What do I already have that I might

use or repurpose?4. What can I find, rent, or borrow?5. How am I marketing this event?6. Consider transportation.7. Make a plan for recycling.8. Invite guests to join you in your

efforts, and make it easy for them.

For every item…Ask yourself:1. Is the item you’re purchasing or

procuring absolutely necessary and/or useful?

If yes, then…2. Is the item durable or re-useable? If

it’s disposable, is it made from recycled materials, recyclable, or compostable?

If yes then…3. Can collection facilities be organized

at the event to collect the material?
