Banal. Humdrum. Boring. Commonplace. Dull. Trivial. Uninteresting. Unremarkable. Quotidian. Life can sometimes be described by any one of these terms. Quite often we can experience even the most fundamental, the most profound things, like prayer, like the Mass, as banal and unremarkable. P R O J E C T C O M P A S S I O N ‘ G o F u r t h e r T o g e t h e r ’ Twenty-seven-year-old Phany was a struggling farmer and was forced to leave her daughter to take up construction work in the city. Her life has been transformed since joining a Caritas supported program, learning crop growing skills and better water management, to combat drought.

Please donate to Project Compassion 2020 and help mothers like Phany continue to uplift their communities, and provide food for their families. Let’s Go Further, Together. You can donate through Parish boxes and envelopes, by visiting www.caritas.org.au/projectcompassion or phoning 1800 024 413.

U P D A T E D C O R O N A V I R U S N O T I C E F R O M B I S H O P G R E G O R Y Since the Australian Government has indicated that there has been transmission of Covid-19 Virus within Australia, I must, in accord with specialist medical advice, make some rulings concerning the celebration of Mass in our Diocese. In order to prevent the passing of the virus from hand to hand

there will no sign-of-peace until further notice; To prevent the possibility of the transmission of droplets from

one person to another during the reception of Communion, all Communion will be given on the hand and not on the tongue until further notice;

As indicated in the Ad Clerum of 31 January 2020, the Chalice will not be shared with the congregation;

In these circumstances, parishioners who are feeling unwell are relieved from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass. Sick people should not attend Mass.

I remind all extra-ordinary ministers of Holy Communion to sanitise their hands with sanitising gel before distribution;

Holy Water will not be used at the entrances of churches. Let us pray for the protection of our people and the end of this virus.

Bishop Gregory Homeming OCD

P A R I S H N A M E B A D G E O R D E R Forms are at the back of each church. Please carefully print your name on the form at the back if you would like to order a badge. Orders must be in by 22nd March.

T H E S E A S O N O F L E N T A good Lenten practice is to do something

extra in prayer (e.g. taking the opportunity to attend Stations of the Cross), something

involving fasting (whether limiting our intake of food or giving up something non-food

related), and something involving almsgiving (giving money or goods to the needy or doing extra acts of charity, such as Project Compassion).

S T A T I O N S O F T H E C R O S S

Each Friday during the Season of Lent, Stations of the Cross will be held at St. Anthony’s Church at 7:00pm. This is a fitting devotion to add to our prayer life during Lent.

B I S H O P G R E G O R Y ’ S L E N T E N T A L K S 2 0 2 0 This years Lenten talks will focus on Holiness. The second talk will begin at 6pm at St Carthage’s Cathedral (Lismore) on Tuesday, 10th March. Talks will also take place on the two following Tuesday evenings. The first talk from Tuesday, 3rd March is now available on the diocesan website: www.lismorediocese.org
