What I learned

During the process of constructing my music magazine I learnt a lot about many new media technologies. One thing that was newly introduced to me was Adobe Photoshop Cs3 which although I was aware of, I didn’t have a clear understanding of and I managed to learn in this short period of time how to manipulate photographs through the use of editing effects on Photoshop mainly through playing around with it which helped me discover new things, I also looked at videos on YouTube which gave me a step to step guide on how to use Photoshop effectively.

The use of videos and links is also something which learnt but more so on how to embed videos as I already had a clear understanding of using links, I did this when embedding videos and posting links up on to my blog which was something I was also newly introduced to which I learnt was like a online diary and a good way of showing any work or sharing your views on things. When creating my double page spread I used a new software called ‘Pages’ which I struggled at first to gain a understanding of and found very difficult to use, but realised this was the most suitable piece of software to use for creating my double page spread.

To do most of my production work I had to use Apple Macs which I had never used prior to this and was completely different to any windows software, but it was a highly advanced piece of software and therefore most effective to use when doing my production work.

To create my masthead I firstly found my font for it on a website called ‘Dafont’ which I already had used before but had not really found useful until now, this was because it allowed me to see a range of different and dynamic fonts to use that suited my magazines overall theme.

Moreover, when I had completed my magazines front cover and contents page I then analysed them on Microsoft PowerPoint and uploaded them on a site called Slideshare which puts them into different a presentational style of viewing and gives a embed code in case you wanted to post it up on a blog, Facebook, MySpace etc.
