To make the front cover and contents page for my music magazine I used Adobe Photoshop which enabled me edit images by changing the brightness and contrast using the image adjustments features.

I was also able to cut out the image from its background using the pen tool which plotted points where I clicked around the image which then joined up at the end.

Photo shop enabled me to create different layers for each aspect of the front cover or contents page, so if I had to change something I would simply have to select the right layer and change it, or if I decided I didn’t like something I could delete that one thing quickly and easily.

Using Photoshop I had many different possible effects that I could use like the brush effects that I have used around my masthead on my cover and the corners of my contents page and DPS.

On Photoshop there are many different effects that can be done to any piece of text the ones that I used were bevel and emboss which made the text look slightly 3D an the drop shadow effect which made the text look like it was slightly lighter on the page.

For my DPS I used Adobe InDesign as it is the only program that allowed me to create it effectively.

using InDesign was slightly more complicated then using Photoshop as instead of using layers from each piece of work, they were in different boxes which sometimes overlapped so I would think that I would be editing something when I was actually editing something else because I'd accidentally clicked the wrong box.

Also InDesign didn't have all the same features as Photoshop for example it didn't have the brush effects that I had used on my cover and contents pages so I created the brush effects on Photoshop and then transferred them over to InDesign.
