What Is A Front-End Product?

As a professional marketer, I deal with
quite a number of authors who don’t
understand why they’re not making any money.
Many self-published
authors don’t even make
enough money off their books to recoup their
investment.
That’s because books generally aren’t the
right vehicle for making a business out of selling information.
Why not?
Because books…
Because books…▪ Are inexpensive
Because books…▪ Are inexpensive▪ And don’t have good profit margins
Books help authors turn prospects into
customers so that they can sell higher-priced products/services to
their customers down the road.
The products & services that authors sell to their customers after their book is sold to them is what we call
a back-end product.
Front-end products: low-cost, low-risk products (i.e. book, report, cd) that help your prospects cross the border into becoming an actual paying customer.
Definition
Successful authors & sellers of
information know that 60%
+ of their profits are
made on the “back-end.”
Because your prospects are generally not willing to
spend a lot of money with you on their 1st purchase.
BUT…Prospects are open to buying a low-risk, reasonably-priced product/service from you to “test the waters” and see if they like & agree with the information that
you’re selling.
So with a customer in hand, you can then offer them higher levels of your product/services to meet their specific needs & generate more revenue for your business.
Because selling a few high-profit products is a heck of a lot easier
than trying to sell a ton of lower-priced
products.
Credibility
A physical book gives
you enhanced credibility as an expert on your topic.
It’s Tangible
A physical book can be held in
your hands, giving it a higher
perception of value than an e-book. The “wow”
factor.
It’s Makes a Great Business Card
Nothing beats having a book for networking and building
strategic partnerships.
