Slide 4 Degrees of adjectives There are three degrees : - Positive : The car is fast. (no comparison here) Comparative: My car is faster than yours.(for comparing two nouns ) -Superlative: My car is the fastest of all (for comparing three or more nouns ) Slide 5 - Add the suffix er to one-syllable adjectives Examples: tall taller low lower smart smarter - Add the suffix er to two -syllable adjectives ending with y. But first drop the y, change it to i and then add er. Examples: busy busier angry angrier easy easier -Comparative degree Slide 6 More modern More beautiful More convenient More expensive Use the word more for two or more than two-syllable adjectives Examples : Slide 7 Sample sentences For the comparative degree: Johny is taller than Peter.
