the POV camera shot shows the character
running from a zombie showing the
horror from the characters point of
view
the turned over cars and the smoke
billowing from the white house shows
the magnitude of the crisis at hand. this is done by props and
special effects
![Page 12: What is an OTS](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022081520/589aded21a28abee708b4911/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Temporal extension during the montage scene whilst people
are being killed non-diegetic music in
the background
Special effects are used to create the
text, and the movements it makes
when characters come into contact
with it
![Page 13: What is an OTS](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022081520/589aded21a28abee708b4911/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
the on screen text shows us the opening
credits and also shows some of what
the narrator/character is saying "rule number 1 for
surviving zombieland; cardio..."
Special effects are used to add the words
and make them pulsate on screen

make up is used to alter the zombies
looks and fake blood is used on screen to show the zombie has
eaten something.
cars on the road going one way, fleeing from the
horrors that have occurred. give small amount of narrative

conclusionthe OTS for zombieland has common conventions form the horror genre such as
• blood, and other ascetic altering makeup• temporal extension to slow the passage of time and create an effect
depending on the framing• But unlike most horror film it has comedy as a sub-genre, this is shown by
the humor in his list. The audience now expect this to be funny as well as a horror.
• This now adds the conventions of taboo jokes about the dead, as this is now essentially a dark comedy.

similarities differences
makeup e.g. fake blood Zombieland is a more lighthearted opening, but evil dead is much more dark.
props e.g. finger, gore the music is contrapuntal in zombieland, but is fitting for evil dead
onscreen text, edited in zombieland has a voice ov er
essence of violence evil dead is not as linear as zombieland
