What is DegreeWorks? College of Coastal Georgia has implemented a new degree auditing system called DegreeWorks. DegreeWorks is a web tool that provides real-time advice
for students and their advisors to monitor the student’s progress towards graduation. The program includes the degree requirements such as core courses and
program courses that are needed for your major by areas. Degree works can be found under COAST in the myCCGA portal. To login, push the MyCCGA
button on the top right of the CCGA webpage, login to the portal and click on COAST. Click on Student Records and Student Records again, and then click
DegreeWorks (last option). Your worksheet will automatically default to your official major, but you can change the worksheet by selecting “what-if”.
Student Info: It shows information on the student
such as, name, ID number, classification, major,
advisor, and GPA.
Progress Bar: This shows the progress of your
degree. The top bar shows how much of the actual
requirements you have completed. The credits bar
shows how many credits have been completed but
not necessarily towards your actual major.
Degree Category: This shows the areas of your
major that has been completed or still needed.
Core Curriculum: This shows areas A-E of the
core curriculum. The core courses are needed by all
students no matter the major. It includes the grades,
hours, and the terms that the classes were taken.
Major Category: This shows
the actual program courses
that are needed for your
major.
Legend: The legend key shows completed courses,
not completed courses, in-progress courses, and
areas that are near complete.
Additional Requirements: This category
shows the CPC and Legislative
requirements. The CPC requirements are
satisfied by completing the required number
of courses in high school, or completing
one semester of a college level course that
the student may be deficient in. The
legislative requirements are to show
competency in U.S. and Georgia
Constitution and U.S. and Georgia History.
It also includes the CCGA seminar for a
new incoming freshman to complete. Once
the student has reached sophomore
classification the requirement is
automatically satisfied. The last requirement is the two
credit hours in physical education courses.
Additional Courses: This shows
additional courses that were successfully
completed that are not currently being
used by DW. This usually results from
changing your major and there is no place
to use your previous classes in your new
program. However, you can work with
your advisor for possible options to see if
these courses could be used in another
place.
Insufficient Grades: Courses that were
not completed due to a failing grade or the
student withdrew from the course.
Notes: This section displays notes of any
time you make contact with your advisor.
Stating what was discussed and any
referrals that were made.
